And while some may obtain momentary glee by snickering, the above quotation along with countless other similar absurd Trump declarations imparts breadth and depth to the panorama of Trump's invincible ignorance.

Factual validity is secondary in that context. For this Trump quotation reminds us how very limited Trump's knowledge of history is.

I've been struggling with this for several years.

I have vague, perhaps false memory of a C-SPAN-like extended presentation, from RFKj if my fragmentary memory is not incorrect.
The memory is of the sole presenter (RFKj?) explaining that early in his environmental activism he and his associates considered lawlessness, criminality, terrorism for his environmentalist cause.
In that presentation, such methods were explicitly rejected, concluding that their environmental cause was a lawful cause, and that the law was not the enemy, but a potentially powerful ally.

This memory doesn't mesh well with more recent years revealing RFKj as an anti-vax nut.

I cannot explain this disparity.

This is worse than merely a snicker-worthy anecdote. It's a glaring early warning. If Trump alone was this ignorant, Trump's subordinates would have spared the president this embarrassment. BUT !
In this case, and quite likely in many others, this is the level of nitwittery we should expect until February 2029, from our presidency.

It's not actually entirely unuseful. It helps clearly define Trump's bigotry.
Trump claims to have common sense. How much Donald? 20% of normal? 10%? 7.38%?

I've long known Trump prefers extemporaneous improv, to teleprompting.

That's what, not why.
Why? It seems Trump knows he doesn't read well enough to deliver an entire teleprompted speech persuasively.

At least he knows he has limitations?
