Al made some mistakes.
- Shortly before a competitive vote for his first term in the U.S. senate, Franken promised that he was a serious candidate and that he wouldn't joke. Huge blunder Al.
- He resigned incident to a comedic absurdity, gesturing as if fondling the breasts of a female troop asleep wearing a flack vest. Fondling is tactile, an absurdity through a U.S. military flack vest, the point of Franken's bawdy sight-gag.
It was in poor taste, though welcome if harmless amusement among some. It's sometimes called "locker room" culture. Jumping ship was an indiscretion Al, it didn't unring the bell.

Amen !

A note on impiety:
One may mistakenly believe the "trinity" depicted above is impious, irreverent. BUT !!
Holy scripture demonstrates it's the opposite.

TenCommandments.JPG

The first, the primary of our Ten Commandments is: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me". Check your calendar. Easter comes before Christmas.
Thus any perceived impiety toward the Easter Bunny may instead be due reverence for the holy Resurrection.

From our monotheistic culture the many dozens if not hundreds of "gods" of human religious history reduce the probability of selecting the one true god from among them, unlikely. That assumes the one true god is actually on that list. That in turn assumes there is one true god, at all.
A compound improbability.

That's not an argument for disbelief. It's a statistical justification for open-mindedness, agnosticism.

"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), U.S.president. Letter, 10 Aug. 1787

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE !!

There are three sets of "ten commandments" in the Bible but that book only refers to one of them as "The Ten Commandments". And it's not the set we see on monuments or that many of us were forced to memorize in school (or that appear in #1,122). That list is very different

The Ten Commandments

1. For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
2. Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
3. The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep.
4. All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
5. Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

6. And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
7. Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel.
8. Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the feast of the Passover be left until the morning.
9. The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God.
10. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

After giving these commandments, God said...
Exodus 34
27 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
This is the only place in the Bible in which you will see commandments from God being called "The Ten Commandments".

Thanks S2.
It may seem controversial, but I welcome insights on religion, perhaps inspired by Sun Tzu:

It's not imprudent to remain mindful of what the zanies are up to. Lapse on this vigilance, and risk a SCOTUS ruling like Dobbs v. Jackson.
The Holy Bible a mainstay in the religion bidness.
But their word processing software was a shade primitive back then. Our Bible is often called a "book". It's a volume, many books.

In a previous campaign candidate Trump said he would not question the outcome of the election "IF I WIN!"

Problem is, even @CV this insanity is treated as alarming but isolated incidents, impotent loonies spewing shocking but immaterial nonsense. WRONG !

Evidently they're conspiring to complete a successful coup d'état, overthrow the Constitution.

President Joe! DO NOT blow this one sir !

This is the problem with anyone sounding the alarm. If plausible, not much alarm. And when implausible, much doubt. So how to warn of severe peril, plausibly?

Why would it matter? In a diversified investment portfolio? Perhaps investors showed the shrewd foresight to invest in Trump's casino. That's a sure money maker. Right?
