Quotable Quotes

"... our authority... It not only mentions [banned books] but it lists them." ~ board member Kevin McDonald, recently appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis" #840
I'm handicapped by my unrelenting inclination to contextualize on rational basis. It works magnificently in science. It may not work at all in political situations such as this.

There are numerous reasons book-banners may press their cause. Presuming their cause is either rational, or viable, or just likely to be wrong.
Therefore dealing with them on premise book-banners are motivated by best constructive pedagogical ambition undermines best pedagogical results.
Fight fire with fire may not seem an ideal solution. But these champions of ignorance are very dangerous, not merely in methodology, but in outcome as well.
We have already witnessed this in the way Middle East madrassas churning out new young jihadi terrorists serving a false divine imprimatur ...

"Donald Trump wants to talk about things that he thinks are 'horrible.' All of us lived through his presidency, so, right back at you, buddy." ~ Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, responding to the former president's characterization of his city

"When you were a swinging bachelor in Manhattan, were you ever involved with anyone who had an abortion?" ~Maureen Dowd, 2016

"Such an interesting question. So what's your next question?" ~ Trump

It should have been "How much did it cost you?"

That's a keeper. ... I see a profile emerging here. I find reason to question Trump's suitability for the presidency.

"Steve shows great courage. I saw him in the hospital. I can tell your wife really loves you, Steve, because some wives wouldn't care." ~ Trump during his return to the Capitol last week, to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, severely wounded in 2017 mass shooting

Sounds like he's speaking from experience

Got a particular Trump wife in mind?

"I am going to win this election by a f***ing landslide. I always did things my way. And I always win, no matter what all these other f***ing people think. And that f***er Biden. He is so f***ing stupid. I am going to kick his f***ing ass in this election." ~ Trump to Dr. Anthony Fauci in phone call from Air Force One, Nov. 1, 2020, two days before the election

Caricature means a representation in which the subject's distinctive features are deliberately exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect.

Thus Trump's physical attributes are more easily caricatured:

more easily caricatured than Trump's beyond the pale (now felonious) conduct.

A driver was stuck in a traffic jam on the DC Beltway, parked. A pedestrian knocked on the window.
The driver opened the window and asked: “What’s going on?”
“Terrorists have kidnapped Congress. They’re demanding a $100 million ransom.Otherwise, they’re going to douse them all in gasoline and set them on fire. We’re going from car to car collecting donations....”
“What's the average donation so far?” asked the driver.
“A gallon or two.” was the reply.

"Talk about being a dictatorship, this is what's happening under Biden...Under Joe Biden we're actually living under a dictatorship right now." ~ Gov. Doug Burgum

Stating the obvious perhaps,
partisan politics has inspired hyperbole, or worse for millennia.
Trump & minions have taken this to extreme, asserting their partisan absurdities in superlative form.

Many if not most individual examples of this might well deserve a headline. But Trump fever has so badly infected the Republican party, is so pervasive, and has continued for so many years,
the alarm it sounds is drowned out by background clatter.

How many times must the bored school boy falsely cry wolf, before his cries are disregarded?

Yet as stalwart Republican strategist Karl Rove observes, only since Trump's dozens of recent felony convictions has Trump's presidential race poll numbers begun to slip.

Bell-curve a population of over 100 million voters, we'd expect to find a six sigma fringe of artlessness.

The potentially catastrophic alarm here is not artlessness alone, but that it is manifest in potentially an electoral majority.

The People of the United States are at risk of re-electing this maniac to CEO of the USA, even if he has to serve as president from a prison cell.

"Together, we stood up to the communists, Marxists, and fascists to defend religious liberty like no other president has ever done. And I have the wounds all over my body. If I took this shirt off you'd see a beautiful, beautiful person but you'd see wounds all over me. I've taken a lot of wounds, I can tell you. More than, I suspect, any present ever." ~ Trump, speaking to Faith & Freedom Coalition

Melania must like it rough.

BUT !!

Every bright, shining cloud has a dark, sinister lining.
What the %$#@ will satirists, and editorialists do if crooked Biden wins this November's election? No more shooting pickles from a barrel for them!

"There's so much water. You don't know what to do with it. You know, it's called rain. It rains a lot in certain places. But now, their idea, you know, did you see the other day? They just, I opened it up and they closed it again. I opened it, they close, washing machines to wash your dishes. There is a problem. They don't want you to have any water. They want no water." ~ Trump

#859 ~ Trump

Alright.
So Trump has focused on an H2O theme for his Summer campaign.

‘What would happen if the boat sank from its weight, and you’re in the boat, and you have this tremendously powerful battery, and the battery’s now underwater, and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’ ...
But you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted? I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark. So we’re going to end that, we’re going to end it for boats, we’re going to end it for trucks.” Trump

We're sunk.

TBD
Can Trump win the election from prison?
