Let's not overlook reality. Trump made a binary choice.
Iran offered Trump an alternative.
Trump rejected that in favor of the status quo, which reportedly includes record high diesel cost, just at the onset of home heating season in the Northern hemisphere.

Should that surprise us? Trump has already rejected President Obama's plan, which left the Hormuz Strait entirely open, unobstructed.

The rumor is that Bush started the war with Iraq actually only to raise oil prices in order to increase TX profits.
If that is the case, then Trump may also be motivated just by increasing oil profit kickbacks?
 
Trump knows his War on Iran is unpopular with voters paying higher $prices at the pump.
Trump knows he's even getting political, potentially congressional backlash from Republicans.
Trump has rejected Iran's offer to reopen the Hormuz Strait.

Rubio, 55, sat down with Hannity, 64, and laid out the reasoning behind a conflict that has now dragged on for months. His central claim was that the threat had a clock on it: Iran, he said, was heading toward a nuclear breakout, and waiting would have cost the United States its chance to respond.

What Rubio Said

Rubio described a scenario in which Iran kept piling up missiles, drones and conventional weapons until military options against its nuclear program simply disappeared. "That's what they were trying to do," he told Hannity, "That's what the President prevented."

He also leaned on a line that has become common among defenders of the war: that the alternative can't be tested. In his words, the only way to prove the opposing view would be to let Iran's buildup go ahead and see what happened. Rubio credited Trump, 80, with averting a much bigger problem down the road.

The interview came shortly after Second Lady Usha Vance, 40, made headlines with remarks about her husband and a possible 2028 presidential run.

The most obvious flaw in his reasoning is that Obama easily succeeded in a 15 year halt to nuclear weapons, without costing a cent, raising gasoline prices, or anyone getting killed.
