Since it was the WTC bombing that motivated the war in Afghanistan, and there is nothing to motivate a war with Iran, Trump makes no sense.
But I personally think the war in Afghanistan was also illegal, since the Taliban were our allies from our Mujahideen.

Let's not overlook reality. Trump made a binary choice.
Iran offered Trump an alternative.
Trump rejected that in favor of the status quo, which reportedly includes record high diesel cost, just at the onset of home heating season in the Northern hemisphere.
Should that surprise us? Trump has already rejected President Obama's plan, which left the Hormuz Strait entirely open, unobstructed.
The rumor is that Bush started the war with Iraq actually only to raise oil prices in order to increase TX profits.
If that is the case, then Trump may also be motivated just by increasing oil profit kickbacks?
Trump knows his War on Iran is unpopular with voters paying higher $prices at the pump.
Trump knows he's even getting political, potentially congressional backlash from Republicans.
Trump has rejected Iran's offer to reopen the Hormuz Strait.
Why is Trump stalling? Dawdling?

Trump doesn't want the political consequence, the penalty
