Based on very limited evidence I suspect North Korea's Kim Jong Un is totalitarian dictator because he inherited it, and lacks impulse control (thus morbid obesity, ethanol poisoning, etc).
I suspect Fidel Castro was a "true believer". However wrong his ideology may have been, however lavishly he lived (hypocrisy?), I suspect Castro considered Cuban socialism meritorious, even if not superior.
Trump?
Apparently Trump simply has an insatiable hunger for the limelight. When pressing a political agenda, I sense it's more about Trump impressing himself with accomplishing something others might have thought unlikely.
Thus, Trump's accomplishment isn't self-valued on basis of national benefit, but on difficulty of achievement.

That's the trend I've observed over this past Trump decade.
Well S2, perhaps this is the exception that proves the rule. While I wouldn't have phrased it this way, and while I wouldn't credit Kamala as much as DJ has here, I acknowledge the underlying truth. Biden wanted to stay, indicating his own unfitness to do so.
"Coup" it may have been. No denying the anti-democratic appearance, delaying bumping Biden until after the primaries. BUT ! The debate wherein Biden torpedoed his own ship was after the primaries. I'd like to believe the unfortunate appearance / timing is coincidental, not conspiratorial.
I sincerely believe Kamala offers the voter a better option over voting Trump.
