While eating 100g of steak could contain up to 25g of protein, the same amount of chick peas contains 21g and almonds a whopping 28g!

I am not a food expert, but I think I have read that when it comes to food, being vegan is very difficult because there is not just 1 protein.
There are 12 different ones, and you need to have them all at once in order to build more muscle.
What I have read is that the new world discovered veganism with rice, corn, beans, and squash.

I am just impressed how ancient Meso Americans figured out rice, beans, corn, and squash worked also.
That is especially true since corn is not native and was artificially created some how.
We still do not know how corn was created.

Point of trivia - inmates in the Japanese prisoner of war camps during WWII were nutritionally much worse off than those in German POW camps (that's POW camps, not concentration camps) - simple reason - potatoes are a much more complete source of protein than rice - rice is pure carbs.

A New Survey Finds Nearly 1 in 3 People Cut Mold Off Produce and Eat the Rest. But Is It Safe?

Not all moldy food needs to be tossed, but what you can safely salvage depends on the food, since mold can spread below the surface of high-moisture and porous foods.​

  • Moldy foods with high moisture content, including soft fruits and vegetables, yogurt, sour cream, soft cheese, bread, and baked goods, should be discarded because contamination can spread below the surface.
  • Dense produce and hard cheeses can usually be salvaged by cutting at least 1 inch around and below visible mold. Certain cheeses and dry-cured hard salamis also contain molds that are intentionally added or characteristic of the product and safe to eat.
  • Cooking or baking does not destroy mycotoxins once they have formed.
  • To help prevent mold, don't leave perishables out of the refrigerator for more than two hours, consume leftovers within three to four days, and keep the refrigerator and cleaning materials clean.
More than half of those surveyed didn't know that cooking or baking doesn't destroy mycotoxins once they've formed, and about half didn't realize that industrially processed fruit and vegetable products can carry them too. And the mold you see can be just the tip of the iceberg; toxins can spread through food well beyond the visible mold, particularly in anything with high moisture content. That's why food safety officials treat "trim it and eat it" as a decision that depends on the food itself, not a universal rule.

Hard cheese can sometimes be salvaged with generous trimming, followed by fresh wrapping. Throw away soft, sliced, shredded, and crumbled cheeses because contamination may extend below the surface.

Which moldy foods are safe to salvage​

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), dense produce like cabbage, bell peppers, and carrots can usually be salvaged if they have a little bit of visible mold. As the agency explained, you need to cut at least an inch around and below the mold, keeping the knife out of the moldy section itself so it doesn't drag contamination into the healthy part.

Hard cheeses also follow the one-inch rule; however, as the FSIS noted, it includes one extra step: rewrap the cheese in fresh material after trimming.

According to the FSIS, some products come with purposeful mold, including dry-cured, hard salamis, which "have a characteristic thin, white mold coating which is safe to consume; however, they shouldn't show any other mold." The same goes for certain cheeses, made all the more delicious thanks to their mold, including "blue veined cheese such as Roquefort, blue, Gorgonzola, and Stilton," which the FSIS added, "are created by the introduction of P. roqueforti or Penicillium roqueforti spores. Cheeses such as Brie and Camembert have white surface molds. Other cheeses have both an internal and a surface mold. The molds used to manufacture these cheeses are safe to eat."
