Alan Turing was gay, a fact he shared openly with close friends and colleagues, including during his time at Cambridge and Bletchley Park, where it was generally accepted.
However, in 1952, Turing was prosecuted under laws that criminalised same-sex relationships in Britain. After reporting a burglary at his home, he admitted to a relationship with Arnold Murray, which led to a conviction and a sentence of probation and hormone treatment intended to suppress his sexuality.
Turing’s treatment has since become symbolic in the wider fight for LGBTQ+ equality. His case played a key role in the campaign to overturn historic convictions of gay men prosecuted under now-abolished laws. In 2013, Turing was granted a posthumous Royal Pardon, and he is now remembered not only as a computing pioneer but also as a powerful figure in LGBTQ+ history.

The Enigma machine is a cipher device developed and used in the early- to mid-20th century to protect commercial, diplomatic, and military communication. It was employed extensively by Nazi Germany during World War II, in all branches of the German military. The Enigma machine was considered so secure that it was used to encipher the most top-secret messages.
The Enigma has an electromechanical rotor mechanism that scrambles the 26 letters of the alphabet. In typical use, one person enters text on the Enigma's keyboard and another person writes down which of the 26 lights above the keyboard illuminated at each key press. If plaintext is entered, the illuminated letters are the ciphertext. Entering ciphertext transforms it back into readable plaintext. The rotor mechanism changes the electrical connections between the keys and the lights with each keypress.
The security of the system depends on machine settings that were generally changed daily, based on secret key lists distributed in advance, and on other settings that were changed for each message. The receiving station would have to know and use the exact settings employed by the transmitting station to decrypt a message.
Although Nazi Germany introduced a series of improvements to the Enigma over the years that hampered decryption efforts, cryptanalysis of the Enigma enabled Poland to first crack the machine as early as December 1932 and to read messages prior to and into the war. Poland's sharing of their achievements enabled the Allies to exploit Enigma-enciphered messages as a major source of intelligence. Many commentators say the flow of Ultra communications intelligence from the decrypting of Enigma, Lorenz, and other ciphers shortened the war substantially and may even have altered its outcome.

Organizations that advocate for members of the LGBTQ2 community are calling a court injunction preventing the Alberta government from banning gender-affirming treatment for people under 16 “a historic win.”

Was it Ahmadinejad that addressed an audience of academics in NY, announced that there were no gays in Iran, and was startled when he was laughed at by the audience.
Declare something illegal, and it's likely fewer in the population may admit to it. BUT !
I suspect the diversity spectra among differing populations of millions, are probably similar. ~10% gay? So what's the background on this Budapest pic?
