The war in Iran (or whose war is it anyways?)

By his logic every country in the world would be justified in attacking the US. After all, they already have weapons so they might use them.

Yes, that is an easy way to detect bias, by reversing the situation and seeing of the same result would still be appropriate.
And what is so ironic is that the US is the ONLY nuclear violator so far.
We used weapons that destroy whole cities, on civilians.

Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, became the first senior Trump Administration official to resign in protest over the Iran war on Tuesday, claiming the country posed “no imminent threat to our nation.”
Kent, a veteran and former Republican Congressional candidate, was confirmed by the Senate in July 2025 to lead the agency charged with detecting and analyzing terrorist threats, despite criticisms from Democrats and others that his embrace of conspiracy theories and history of ties to far-right extremists were disqualifying.

Apparently other countries are siding with Iran over our attack on them.

On 16 March, an Australian government minister stated that Australia will not send ships to the Strait.
On the same day, Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi also ruled out any current plans to send Japanese navy ships to help escort oil tankers through the strait.
European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that the EU was exploring the possibility of expanding the scope of its existing naval missions, Aspides and Atalanta, or establishing a framework for the strait similar to the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
She called for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

Several EU members ruled out military involvement in the crisis: Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
France emphasized that a naval escort mission would only take place when the war is over, with French officials saying that Greece, Italy and the Netherlands have shown interest in such a mission. Also on 16 March, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that for now the United States is happy with the increasing number of ships crossing the Strait.

Trump says NATO's refusal to help on Iran is "very foolish mistake"

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the United States had been ‌informed by most of its NATO allies that they did not want to get involved with the country's military operation in Iran, a move he described as a "very foolish mistake".

Speaking at an Oval Office event, Trump said NATO countries ‌were supportive of the joint U.S.-Israeli war, which has now entered its third week, even as they ‌did not want to ‌get involved.

"I think NATO is making a very foolish mistake," Trump said. "Everyone agrees with us, but ‌they don't want to help. And we, you know, we as the United ‌States have to remember that because we think it's pretty shocking," ‌he added.

Trump called on nations to help police the Strait of Hormuz after Iran responded to U.S.-Israeli attacks by using drones, missiles and mines to effectively close the channel for tankers.

But several U.S. allies said on Monday they had no immediate ‌plans to send ships to help unblock the strait, effectively rebuffing Trump's plea for military support.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that "Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer 'need,' or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID!." He singled out Japan, ‌Australia and South Korea.

What a surprise! Donald Trump has been caught in another lie about his reasons for starting an illegal war with Iran. Today DNI Tulsi Gabbard told the Senate Intelligence Committee that Iran was rebuilding their uranium enrichment program and that the June 21st strikes on their enrichment facilities left them buried and inaccessible.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, the world’s top nuclear watchdog also stated back on March 3rd that they had no evidence that Iran was anywhere close to building a nuclear weapon.

So like everything Trump says, his claim that Iran was two weeks away from having a nuclear weapon is completely false.

Pentagon seeks $200 billion in additional funding for the Iran war

The Pentagon is seeking $200 billion in additional funds for the Iran war, a senior administration official says. It’s an extraordinarily high number and comes on top of extra funding the Defense Department already received last year in Trump’s big tax cuts bill.

Reuters reports Secretary Hegseth requests over $200 $Billion from congress for Trump's War on the world.

Iran has laid about a dozen mines in Strait of Hormuz, sources say

By Reuters / Updated March 16, 2026
WASHINGTON, March 11 (Reuters) - Iran has deployed about a dozen mines in the Strait of Hormuz, two sources familiar with the matter ‌said, in a move likely to complicate the reopening of the narrow waterway, an important route for shipping oil and liquefied natural gas.
Exports of oil and LNG through the strategic chokepoint along Iran's coast have effectively been halted by the war launched 12 days ago by the United States and Israel, helping to drive a surge in world energy prices.

Who hired them?

Trump has a tiger by the tail.
If Trump's senior military commanders did not warn Trump of this Iran quagmire, I suspect it's because Trump fired those that would.

Netanyahu wanted help, and found snookering Trump easier than shooting pickles from a barrel.

Reading tea leaves is mysticism.
Sec. Def. Hegseth has reportedly requested $200 $Billion more for this Middle East mess Trump promised he'd keep U.S. out of.
$200 $Billion won't finish the job. BUT !
It may embarrass some that vote the additional expenditure to continue funding it, after this next $200 $B has been spent.

Trump's War against Iran may look quite grim on this last day of Winter '25 - '26.
You think it'll look any better on the first day of Summer ?

Just weeks into this war, the Pentagon is now asking for over $200 BILLION in additional funding from Congress—on top of what’s already been spent. That number isn’t for what’s already happened. It’s for what they KNOW is coming next: escalation, expansion, and a long, drawn-out conflict.

Think about how fast this spiraled. In the first week alone, the war burned through over $11 billion. Now suddenly, they’re talking about a price tag bigger than entire wars we’ve fought over YEARS.

And here’s the truth they don’t want to say out loud: you don’t ask for $200 billion unless you’re planning for a prolonged war.

They sold this as quick and decisive. Now they’re preparing for something endless and massively expensive.

Working Americans get higher gas prices, higher costs, and economic instability.

Defense contractors get guaranteed profits.

Same playbook. Same lie.

You pay. They cash in.

They still have to throw in a few million extra for lobster, king crab, and prime rib.

Israel has carried out an airstrike on a major Iranian gas facility, and Donald Trump is publicly threatening that the U.S. will “blow up” the entire field if Iran hits Qatar’s gas infrastructure again.

U.S. officials (on background) have told outlets like Axios that the Israeli strike was coordinated with the Trump administration, meaning Washington knew and green‑lit the operation.

Publicly, President Trump is insisting the U.S. had “no prior knowledge” of this particular attack and that Israel “acted alone,” and that Qatar was not involved.

So, I guess we know what Sec. Hegseth was doing while VP JD was romancing the sofa.

We now know what BS is alluded to in the CBS network. That's the place to see it, though not for much longer with CBS' The Late Show on the chopping block.

Just an observation - on another board a Trump supporter tried to claim that this was justified because it was for the troops. For the top brass and actual department members but it's safe to say that the rank and file military never saw any of this.

Correct.

Just an observation - on another board a Trump supporter tried to claim that this was justified because it was for the troops. For the top brass and actual department members but it's safe to say that the rank and file military never saw any of this.
- splendid -
And what is the per capita expenditure on this unusual indulgence of our "top brass"?

Is there any precedent for it in the U.S.?

Any at all ?
