The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

"No words needed" S2 #3,720
The young one (foreground) looks familiar. I may have seen the movie from which this still was composed.
McConnell [R-KY] may not have been wildly popular across the political aisle. BUT
was McConnell a pedophile? Predatory / malevolent to children?

ABC Fires Back at Trump's FCC, Accuses Agency of "Attempted Censorship"
ABC refused to blink.

In a blistering 119-page filing to the Federal Communications Commission, the network accused Trump's FCC of "attempted censorship" and open "retaliation," and made clear it will not be bullied into softening its coverage to please the White House.

The fight traces back to April, when the FCC abruptly moved to review the licenses of eight ABC-owned television stations. The agency claimed the review was about diversity and inclusion hiring policies, but it came right after Jimmy Kimmel made a joke about Trump that Trump didn't like. The federal government had never before demanded such a sweeping review of a major network's licenses.

ABC named FCC Chair Brendan Carr directly and warned that this was never just about one network. "The retaliation against ABC is a signal to every media company in the country: accommodate the Administration's view of what news coverage should look like or pay the price," the filing said.

Carr has spent Trump's second term taking a sledgehammer to the free press and bragging about it, rattling off a list of defunded outlets and ousted journalists at a conservative conference in March. Yet he still insists he doesn't see the FCC as "the speech police."

But ABC isn't standing alone. The network's filing pointed to a massive outpouring of support from viewers, current and former FCC officials, advocacy groups, and political leaders on both sides of the aisle, including warnings from conservative Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and Senator Ted Cruz. The

FCC's own website has been flooded with public comments defending the First Amendment and local television.

While Carr counts the newsrooms he's helped hollow out, ABC just drew a line in the sand and dared the rest of the industry to stand behind it.

reflecting pool point #3,732
counterpoint:
This post #3,733 is not an attempt to correct an error of fact.
Instead it's a broader warning about the massively destructive influence of President Trump in his second term.

U.S. allies including those in the Middle East formerly reliant on U.S. military protection have learned:
a) U.S. security agreements may not be as reliable as they were considered to be during non-Trump administrations.
b) Because it's a dangerous world, the result of this may be substantial nuclear proliferation.
c) Trump's chainsaw wielding henchmen have butchered U.S. federal government, in some cases undermining viability.
Putting Hegseth in charge of the Department of War, reckless, foolish.
Putting RFKj at HHS, has been a boon to the screw worm, measles, & cyclospora.

Trump has severely undermined the global economy, killed thousands of innocent Iranians, and simultaneously
empowered Iran beyond what nuclear weapons would have provided it.

Trump is a nightmare, a catastrophe.
And #3,732 has us snickering over a botched $14 $M reflecting pool renovation.

More than 155 scientists and health experts are demanding the harassment of Anthony Fauci finally end. Their open letter, published the day before his Senate hearing, is not written in academic language.

The administration and its allies in Congress, it says, "are waging a war on individual scientists, through public harassment, arrests, criminal indictment, and ongoing threats of prosecution."

On the accusations against Fauci, the signers are just as blunt: "The charges against Dr. Fauci are baseless, suggesting he covered up the origins of Covid, that he bribed or persuaded other scientists to join his cover-up, that NIAID-funded research sparked the pandemic, that he personally holds patents on the virus, and that he's working with intelligence agencies to suppress the true story of the pandemic.

No credible evidence has been produced to support these absurd charges."

The morning after the letter went up, Fauci, 85, sat under subpoena before Rand Paul's committee and invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times while senators explained that silence proves guilt. Days earlier, Paul had released more than 1,100 pages of the man's private diary. On Wednesday, the committee votes on holding him in contempt.

The letter had been public for one day. And here are the others.

This April, armed FBI agents raided the Maryland home of David Morens, Fauci's 78-year-old former aide. According to Science magazine, they made him strip to his underwear, then drove him forty miles in handcuffs to a federal courthouse. His case is pending.

Two virologists were arrested on import charges for carrying inactivated lab samples home from an African outbreak, samples their colleagues say endangered no one. Ralph Baric, one of the world's leading coronavirus scientists, was stripped of his federal funding. The names run on: Francis Collins. Peter Hotez. Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe, because the war is no longer confined to COVID.

The signers are not asking for immunity. They say plainly that scientists should face legitimate oversight and scrutiny. The line they draw is a simple one. Oversight is questions. This is handcuffs.

And they name what's at stake. Criminalize unpopular conclusions, and you teach every young researcher in America one lesson: never work on anything that matters. When the next virus arrives, the people who could stop it will remember exactly what this country did to the people who stopped the last ones.

Here's the part worth sitting with. This is the second time. In July 2020, when the first Trump White House tried to discredit Fauci, thousands of health officials signed a letter in his defense.

"Now is not the time to turn our backs on science," they wrote.

Six years later, the smears have become subpoenas, raids, and arrests. And 155 more scientists signed their names anyway, knowing exactly what happens now to names on lists.

They are demanding Congress call off the hunt.

Seems that brain worm has started back on the heroin

RFK Jr. just revealed on Fox News that Lyme disease, RSV, and COVID are all likely products of Gain of Function research.

Gain of Function research is responsible for the deaths of millions worldwide with nothing to show for it.

RFK Jr. has announced that the U.S. will no longer allow this dangerous experimentation, and doctors and organizations found conducting it will face severe consequences.

Hopefully, other countries around the world follow suit.
