Federal judge bars Trump administration from using obscure clause to make huge funding cuts

By MICHAEL CASEY / Updated 6:05 PM GMT-5, July 17, 2026
BOSTON (AP) — A federal judge in Boston on Friday ruled the Trump administration can’t use an obscure clause relating to agency priorities to make billions of dollars in funding cuts.

Twenty-three states had a filed a lawsuit last year accusing the administration of using the clause to make cuts to everything from crime prevention to food security to scientific research. They were concerned that it would be used to cancel current and future grants.
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani granted a summary judgment preventing the administration from relying on the clause to make cuts and denied a motion by the government to dismiss the case.

“Defendants’ interpretation of the Termination Clause is not clearly supported by the text of the provision, runs counter to the regulatory scheme, receives no support in the rulemaking history, and would violate the Spending Clause’s requirement that conditions be imposed unambiguously,” Talwani, who was nominated by Democratic President Barack Obama, wrote.
The lawsuit argued that the Office of Management and Budget promulgated the use of the clause in question to justify what it described as a “nationwide slash-and-burn campaign.”

Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference yielded charges ranging from interfering with the 2016 election, hacking emails, lying to investigators and tampering with witnesses. Indictments, guilty pleas and prosecutions followed. Donald Trump and his Republican cronies are the only people try to corrupt elections in the United States.

Donald Trump arrived at the World Cup final expecting applause, cameras, and the attention that usually follows power. Instead, the stadium answered with a wave of boos so loud that it became impossible to ignore.

For a few striking moments, the world’s biggest football stage turned into something more than a sporting arena. It became a public forum, where thousands of ordinary voices delivered a message no microphone or press conference could control.

Supporters were not chanting about tactics, goals, or trophies. Their reaction appeared to reflect something deeper: frustration, anger, and rejection aimed at one of the world’s most divisive political figures.

The moment raises a powerful question: when leaders enter public spaces, should they expect respect simply because of their position, or must respect be earned through their actions?

A stadium cannot pass laws. But sometimes, its collective voice says more than any prepared political speech ever could

Gotta love the expression on everybody's face

When Donald Trump was shown on the big screen in MetLife stadium just after the conclusion of the national anthems the crowd of 80,000 people erupted into a chorus of boos so loud that the Fox broadcast had to immediately cut away to a shot outside of the stadium. It was beautiful.

Trump Puts Networks on Notice: Stop the Censorship or Lose Your Licenses

President Trump is done tolerating the mainstream media's blatant suppression of his message. When major networks—including CNN and two of the big three—refused to broadcast his primetime address on election security, they exposed themselves for what they truly are: partisan gatekeepers more interested in silencing conservative voices than serving the American people.

This isn't about ratings or scheduling conflicts. This is a coordinated effort to keep Trump's truth from reaching millions of voters. The networks know that when Trump speaks directly to the American people about election integrity, their narratives crumble. So they black him out.

Trump's call to revoke their broadcast licenses isn't overreach—it's accountability. These networks hold licenses granted by the people to serve the public interest. When they weaponize that privilege to censor a sitting president and suppress critical information about election security, they forfeit the right to call themselves news organizations. They're propaganda outlets, plain and simple.

It's time to remind the mainstream media that their days of unilateral control over the national conversation are over. The American people deserve to hear directly from their leaders, and no network should be allowed to play gatekeeper.— in Los Angeles, CA, United States.

fas·cism (făshĭz′əm)
n.
1. a. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
b. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.
[Italian fascismo, from fascio, group, from Late Latin fascium, from Latin fascis, bundle.]
Word History: It is fitting that the name of an authoritarian political movement like Fascism, founded in 1919 by Benito Mussolini, should come from the name of a symbol of authority. The Italian name of the movement, fascismo, is derived from fascio, "bundle, (political) group," but also refers to the movement's emblem, the fasces, a bundle of rods bound around a projecting axe-head that was carried before an ancient Roman magistrate by an attendant as a symbol of authority and power. The name of Mussolini's group of revolutionaries was soon used for similar nationalistic movements in other countries that sought to gain power through violence and ruthlessness, such as National Socialism.

Let's not overlook what has already occurred in Trump's second term.
Kimmel was temporarily off the air.
Colbert's The Late Show is apparently over.
Trump has conducted purges both within our military and beyond.

This FCC license revocation threat is an alarming encroachment on our First Amendment / freedom of the press.

Feds freeze $1B to California, Minnesota Medicaid

Andrew Rice / Updated Tue, July 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM GMT-5

The Trump administration has frozen over $1 billion in Medicaid payments to California and Minnesota due to suspected fraud, requiring the states to provide proof of legitimacy to retrieve the funds.
(The Center Square) - The Trump administration is pausing more than $1 billion in Medicaid payments to California and Minnesota, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Tuesday.
"They violated the social contract that makes this country strong and makes our democracy function," Kennedy said at a news conference.
Kennedy said California and Minnesota can get those funds back if they provide documentary proof that the payments are legitimate. The administration used artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and traditional financial verification to uncover the fraud in both states, he said.

A federal prosecutor in Washington state who was appointed to serve as U.S. attorney and then summarily fired by President Donald Trump several minutes later has filed a lawsuit challenging his removal.

Last week, a panel of district court judges unanimously appointed Roger Rogoff to lead the Western District of Washington. The jurists chose the longtime Seattle prosecutor to fill a vacancy that the 45th and 47th president had never addressed. In less than an hour, however, Trump sent an email and axed the judges' choice.

Now, in a 24-page complaint, attorneys for the plaintiff say the president's "purported firing" of their client "was unlawful."

The lawsuit alleges violations of federal law and the U.S. Constitution.

"The United States District Court for the Western District of Washington validly appointed Plaintiff Roger Rogoff as U.S. Attorney for this district pursuant to express statutory authority that Congress provided for filling vacancies," the lawsuit reads. "That statute is firmly rooted in, and designed to protect, Congress's Appointments Clause power to prescribe the method for filling inferior officer vacancies."

To hear Rogoff tell it, the statute allowing judges to fill vacancies is not a law the president can simply override — at least not by firing.

"Defendants' attempt to fire him cannot stand," the lawsuit reads.

Instead, the plaintiff says, the president's only recourse — once the judges ....

The problem is that the feds should never have been collecting tax revenue over health care related social issues like Medicaid.
And it is not legal for the feds to then just withhold funds.
If there is Medicaid fraud, then it has to be proven in court, before funds can be denied.
But it was the illegal covid closures and interference in the economy that made fraud so much more common and even necessary.

Trump Now Wants E. Jean Carroll to Return the $5.6M He Paid for Sexual Abuse and Defamation

Trump’s legal team is seeking an emergency injunction to order Carroll to return the judgment she won in the case

Less than two weeks after paying E. Jean Carroll $5.6 million tied to a civil sexual abuse and defamation case, President Donald Trump is asking for the money back.

Trump’s legal team is seeking an emergency injunction that would force Carroll to return the amount she was paid following a judge’s July 8 ruling that ordered the payment process to begin, according to The Independent.

The money, sent to Carroll from an escrow account overseen by the court, came three years after ....
