The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

Pete Hegseth scrapped the military's flu vaccine rule in April, calling it an attack on "freedom." #3,458
The Trump administration pattern seems to be:
if Trump doesn't understand current practice, that current practice is unnecessary.

Isn't that how Trump got U.S. into War with Iran? By unilaterally withdrawing the U.S. from the Obama administration 7 party JCPOA agreement?
So Trump is willing to consult, but mainly with his inner circle of yes-men.

Even under the leadership of an otherwise competent leader that would be perilous. But
under Trump ...

[satire] If you think it's so important BC, why don't YOU? [/satire]

On a more somber plane:
While Trump critics self-righteously ridicule our presidential administrations limitless folly
important matters of economics, social welfare, and international diplomacy are displaced.

CERTAINLY Donald J. Trump is a buffoon.
Are his critics much better, for allowing his unending barrage of distractions to suppress legitimate news of the day?

$fine.

BUT !

That's an anecdote.
Chainsaw Musk cut more than this one program. SO !
We're one step forward, two steps back, on this one program. BUT !

Overall, have Musk asstronomics been a net benefit, or net detriment?

Too soon to know for certain, I suspect.

Trump originally said the renovation would cost $1.8m to repair and repaint the reflecting pool.
But the price has ballooned to nearly $15m, the federal contract shows.

A more extensive detailing of this DC debacle is disclosed at the above The Guardian article.

In this case as in many others it's silly to attribute a single attitude or motive to a population of millions.

But identifying a few key elements correctly does not change the outcome.

If among former Trump voters Trump retains an approximate 1/3 approval rating,
perhaps they're intrinsic malcontents, and simply wanted change, whether or not it was an improvement.

The human mind is easily capable of muddled thought, which leads to absurd outcomes.

Sorry, but I disagree.
The mRNA is not a vaccine and confers no immunity at all.
And since it causes our own cells to grow spike proteins that then cause our own cells to be killed, that is highly dangerous.
Its true that all this immune system activity does reduce covid severity for 2 months, but that is all.
And that is not worth all the extra deaths and amputations the mRNA causes.
And after 2 months, victims are worse off, not better.

Camp Mystic files for bankruptcy almost one year after deadly flood

The all-girls summer camp listed more than $10 million in debt.
Camp Mystic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization Wednesday, nearly a year after catastrophic floods killed 25 campers and two teenage counselors at the Christian camp for girls along the Guadalupe River.

Camp Mystic has been under increasing pressure since the July 4 disaster. Owners had planned to reopen the Texas Hill Country camp this summer for its 100th anniversary but reversed course in April amid outrage from victims’ families and lawmakers. Victims’ families filed lawsuits accusing the camp of ....

I gather some such law varies from one State to another.
I don't know enough about the intricacies of law in this matter, BUT !
I hope the reason the bankruptcy option has been implemented here is not to shield the guilty from prosecution.

A new analysis of the 2025 West Texas measles outbreak has highlighted the serious health risks posed by one of the world's most contagious viruses.

Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services examined the outbreak and found that measles caused widespread illness, a high number of hospitalizations, and multiple deaths, reinforcing concerns that the disease can have severe consequences when it spreads through communities with low immunity.

The outbreak began in January 2025 and eventually grew to 762 confirmed cases, 99 hospitalizations, and two deaths, making it the largest measles outbreak in Texas in more than 30 years. During the first three months alone, nearly one in every five reported patients required hospitalization.

Among those admitted to hospital, about 70% developed pneumonia and dangerously low oxygen levels, while others experienced complications including dehydration and brain inflammation. Most hospitalized patients were children, and nearly all were either unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status.

Measles is caused by the measles virus, which spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or breathes. Because the virus can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area, it spreads more easily than many other infectious diseases. Symptoms usually begin with fever, cough, a runny nose, and red eyes before a distinctive rash appears. Although many patients recover, measles can also lead to life-threatening complications, including pneumonia, swelling of the brain, permanent neurological damage, and death.

The findings, published by CDC researchers in the agency's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), show that measles remains capable of causing severe disease despite being preventable.

The researchers say the West Texas outbreak demonstrates how quickly the virus can spread and overwhelm health services when it reaches populations with insufficient immunity.
