The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

K Street is a major thoroughfare in the United States capital of Washington, D.C., known as a center for lobbying and the location of numerous advocacy groups, law firms, trade associations, and think tanks. In political discourse, "K Street" has become a metonym for lobbying in the United States, the same way Wall Street in New York City became a metonym for the U.S. financial markets, since many lobbying firms are or traditionally were located on the section in Northwest Washington which passes from Georgetown through a portion of Downtown Washington, D.C.

OMG! 47 is so petty and pathetic! One would have thought the opposition leader against Maduro would be the obvious choice

BREAKING: Trump says Nobel Prize winner Maria Corina Machado will NOT be replacing Maduro as president of Venezuela because she doesn't have "respect!"

Before the smoke had even settled, Trump ruled out the leader of the Venezuelan opposition as a candidate for a post-Maduro Venzeulan presidency, almost certainly out of spite for winning the Nobel Prize instead of him.

"I think it'd be very tough for her to be the leader. She doesn't have the support or the respect within the country. She's a very nice woman but she doesn't have the respect,” said Trump in his press conference.

More likely, she doesn’t have the respect from Trump.

Nobody, not even Trump and his goons, know what the plan is for Venezuela now that Maduro has been kidnapped by Trump. Foresight, planning ahead, or consequences are not things the Trump administration has ever cared about.

The rest of Maduro’s inner circle have largely survived; his vice-president is safe in Russia. If the Maduro regime is allowed to retain control, then what was the point of all this in the first place? Is this just an international stick-up to force the privatization of Venezuelan oil reserves?

Trump obviously doesn’t care about democracy. It would appear the people of Venezuela will have to wait longer for the freedom they’ve been denied by Maduro and now by Trump.

We could have expected this. Trump has had the word "Mexico" in his mouth in a non-neighbourly way, especially the occasions since Venezuela.

Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum isn't just criticizing Trump in press conferences; she is officially taking it to the United Nations. In a stunning move, she has publicly called on the UN to step in and "stop Trump" before he goes any further.

She claims Trump's recent actions have blatantly violated Article 2 of the UN Charter (which protects national sovereignty).

She is telling the world that the American President is out of control and the international community needs to force him to stop.

First, they tried to stop him with votes.

Then with court cases.

Now they are begging the UN to save them.

It seems Mexico is realizing that "America First" means exactly what it says, and they are panicking.

World War III

🚨
Denmark’s Prime Minister suggests Trump can go to hell about Greenland and reminds him it would trigger World War III.

Denmark’s prime minister just drew a hard line against Donald Trump after he openly suggested the United States “needs” Greenland, sending shockwaves through Europe following the U.S. attack on Venezuela.

In a blistering public statement, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen shut Trump down in unmistakable terms, warning that his rhetoric has no legal basis and represents a direct threat to a close U.S. ally.

“I must say this very clearly to the United States,” Frederiksen said. “It makes absolutely no sense to speak of any necessity for the United States to take over Greenland.”

That is not diplomatic hedging. That is a firm rejection.

Frederiksen reminded Trump that Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and that neither Denmark nor Greenland has any intention of being bullied, bought, or seized.

“The United States has no legal basis to annex one of the three countries of the Kingdom of Denmark,” she stated. “The Kingdom of Denmark — and thus Greenland — is a member of NATO and is therefore covered by the Alliance’s collective security guarantee.”

That sentence matters.

Trump is now openly floating the idea of taking territory that is protected by NATO. Territory defended under the same collective security agreement the United States helped build and has relied on for decades. Any military action by the United States would plunge most of the European countries to war — AGAINST the United States.

Frederiksen also dismantled Trump’s predictable excuse that the U.S. somehow needs more access to ....

“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.” Articles of the UCMJ: Article 88—Contempt toward officials
"The remedy for bad speech is good speech." U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis

I understand why it is supposed to be wrong for military personnel to criticize the chain of command, but I think Kelly just restated the law correctly.
He said nothing critical of any particular policy.
Although I personally do think the kidnapping of Maduro was illegal under US law.

iirc the rules may change once the service-member's military status changes.
Enlistments expire, they include a specified termination of service date.
Commissions are indefinite.

None the less, I got the impression even former commissioned officers regained some of their 1st Amendment leeway once their service terminates.

Punishing Kelly this way is petty, disgraceful, unworthy of a U.S. presidential administration.

Regarding U.S. law / Maduro:
It's a trifle convoluted, but even if U.S. statute doesn't proscribe kidnapping foreign nation leaders, our treaties are legally binding on us, U.S.

Shock moment woman arrested on live TV as she slams Donald Trump

A protest against the Trump administration’s handling of Venezuela turned dramatic when a woman was arrested on live television. Jessica Plichta, who had helped organize the demonstration, spoke to WZZM about the U.S. capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro just hours earlier.

During the interview, Plichta urged citizens to take a stand, saying, "We have to apply pressure at all points that we can. This is not just a foreign issue, it's our tax dollars that are also being used to commit these war crimes." She added, "It is our duty to oppose the Trump administration, which is committing crimes both here in the U.S. and in Venezuela."

Plichta also expressed support for Maduro, stating, "I saw Maduro in person. People loved him. Maduro was elected by the people. He is for the people, and the people want to see his return. Free Maduro."

Moments after finishing her interview, police officers arrived. She was handcuffed and led to a patrol car. Authorities later said the arrest was for obstructing a roadway and failing to obey lawful orders after protesters ignored repeated instructions to move to the sidewalk.

The Grand Rapids Police Department confirmed that officers had issued more than 25 announcements instructing participants to leave the street, noting, "Blocking traffic in this manner is a direct violation of city and state law. The group refused lawful orders, and those identified were subject to arrest."

Plichta was released later that same day, according to the Grand Rapids Alliance. The incident highlights the tension between civic protest and law enforcement during politically charged events, especially as debates over U.S. foreign interventions continue to draw attention.

Anybody actually believe she would have been arrested if she had been supporting Donnie?

Donald Trump Impeachment Warnings Issued After Maduro Capture

President Donald Trump is facing renewed calls for impeachment after his administration conducted military strikes in Venezuela over the weekend, capturing President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The U.S. government charged the couple with narco-terrorism, citing their alleged role in funneling deadly drugs into the United States.

Maduro has been formally indicted in the Southern District of New York, continuing a legal case that began in March 2020. In 2025, the U.S. doubled the bounty for information leading to his arrest to $50 million. Maduro has denied all wrongdoing.

While many Republicans have praised Trump’s actions, concerns over legality and congressional oversight have emerged, especially among Democrats. Some members argue the strikes could constitute an impeachable offense, as they were carried out without Congress’s approval.

Representative Delia Ramirez of Illinois described Trump’s actions as “illegal, dangerous violations of international and U.S. law that put us all at risk,” urging Congress to act. She emphasized passing the War Powers Resolution, sponsored by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, to reassert congressional authority over military actions.

New York Representative Dan Goldman echoed .....
