Quotable Quotes

"MAKE HONDURAS GREAT AGAIN!" ~ Trump, announcing full pardon for Juan Orlando Hernandez, former president of Honduras, found guilty last year by an American jury of conspiring to import 400 tons of cocaine into the U.S. and sentenced to 45 years in federal prison
Meanwhile he claims that the US is sinking fishing boats in international waters because, with no evidence, they're somehow involved in the drug trade/

"The numbers are beyond any numbers." ~Trump, on ticket sales for FIFA World Cup
Trump has surrounded himself with yes-men, who apparently fawn vacantly at Trump's incomprehensible rambling.

Think it through. Is there any point to parsing Trump's presidential rhetoric?

We know he's a liar*. So even if we can construe intended meaning by grammatical similarity, why bother?

Can you name any celebrity here on Earth, or elsewhere in the solar system that lies more prolifically than President of the United States of America Donald John Trump?

"Meanwhile he claims that the US is sinking fishing boats in international waters because, with no evidence, they're somehow involved in the drug trade/" S2 #1,802
Would a U.S. president lie about war?

U.S.President Bush (the younger) in his State of the Union speech Jan. 29, 2002

* "I will build a great, great wall on our Southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall, mark my words." Republican primary presidential candidate Donald J. Trump 15/06/16 www.DonaldJTrump.com

"The question you're raising re WMD's is really whether or not they were provided with accurate intelligence." S2
I have a personal opinion on this S2, so I can't provide a link / URL.
In my personal opinion:

U.S. President #43 GWB wanted to teach his father U.S. President #41 GHWB a lesson.
#41 thought as many in the public thought, GHWB / Desert Storm / Commander Schwarzkopf could have / should have battled Iraqi troops ousted from Kuwait, all the way back to Baghdad. BUT !!
#41 had the excuse of expelling Iraqi troops from Kuwait.
#43 didn't have that, or enough else. SO !
#43 simply concocted his bogus casus belli out of lies.

from post #1,803
We now know these are outright lies.
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt" - piffle -

And we pretty much knew they were lies, as U.N. Inspectors Blix & Ritter picked Saddam / Iraq clean before #43 GWB got started.

“Is god willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him god?” ― Epicurus (341-270 BC) initially posted by S2 years ago

"God" is portrayed as omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and short of cash." Crane

counterpoint:
Philosopher George Carlin parodied a believer describing god's omnipotence in his own terms:
"He can throw a boat right over a hedge." George Carlin / Toledo Window Box
"The fact that somebody over-sells an idea doesn't make it a bad idea. It makes them a bad salesman." Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA ret)
The "throw a boat right over a hedge" crowd does NOT prove or disprove the existence of god.
But it demonstrates utilitarian rationale for deriving a more sophisticated viewpoint.

You know, when she goes on television, Fox, like, I mean, they dominate, they dominate when she gets up there with that beautiful face and those lips that don't stop. Pop-pop-pop, like a little machine gun. She's got no fear." ~ Trump, at rally, on WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt

"Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME... with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before." ~ Trump post

"He was a deranged person, as far as Trump was concerned... I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country." ~ Trump
