Just a little humor

How does President Trump play darts?
He throws a dart without aiming, and then draws the bullseye where ever the dart landed.

Q: What do you say to a politician during his most noble day of government obligation?
A: Will the defendant please rise.

$4 / gallon gasoline has exceeded the per gallon price of milk.

This has boosted the economic appeal of milk-powered automobiles:

A Nasa scientist has delivered a stern warning for male astronauts – absolutely do not masturbate in space.

I never considered them allies but Christians nailing themselves to a giant letter "t" on Trans Day of Visibility in solidarity with the trans community was so awesome of them.

You can see why The Onion has problems - it's becoming more difficult to differentiate between reality and satire.

Unfortunately only the first pic is satire - the ones below are not

"Every Republican-controlled state in America allows child marriage." #1,213
Got quantifications here?
I hope we're not referring to 3 year olds.

Read the fine print.
Is it only for consenting children? According to the law as it was when I studied this in the previous millennium, children can not legally sign contracts.
So to formalize a marriage contract, either there's an exception, or children are also allowed to buy cars, houses, rent hotel rooms, etc.

I've read lay accounts of how the human brain develops over decades.
I suspect there's more to it than I've read, as I find I'm able to perform mental assessments that were beyond me in youth through middle-age.
I also notice mental failings, degraded ability to multi-task for obvious example.

What key mental skill does science suggest individuals should achieve competence in, before tying the bongs of wholly acrimony?

What should the minimum permissible age be for such contractual commitments?
Should it apply equally to all age limited legal issues? Renting a car? Gun rights? If not, why not?

The minimum marriageable age (like the age of consent) varies as you move around the world.

But before anyone pats themselves on the back

Child marriage is still legal in two-thirds of U.S. states. Here’s why.

Child marriage was legal in all 50 states until 2018. Since then, 16 states have passed bans, and advocates continue to push lawmakers to end the practice.

Interesting to look towards the UK ....

Historically, the minimum marriage age in the UK was 12 for females and 14 for males until 1929. The Age of Marriage Act 1929 increased this to 16. As of February 27, 2023, the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 raised the minimum age to 18 across the UK

Indeed.
I know.
Thus the question. Which among those standards should be deemed appropriate, if any?
Should there be variation? More maturity, more seniority of age in modern industrialized nations where life expectancy my exceed 80 years? Lower in 3rd world where life expectancy doesn't?

The intent is not to strap you into the hot seat.
Instead, #1,213 raises the issue.
Should we infer the author of the meme in #1,213 criticizes the Republican Controlled States, but endorses the standard prevailing among the other States?

What I'm trying to suggest, criticism in the form of condemnation of the status quo may be First Amendment protected. But for me it's a fizzle IF
it doesn't do more than imply an available superior substitute. Short of that, a unit of divergence? Months? Years? Decades?
