Marriage is cultural and religious, so not under government jurisdiction.
The only thing government should legally do is set age limits for sexual activity, not marriage.
And that likely should be more like 16 or 17, not 18.

Marriage is a secular matter, not a religious one. The government decides who can and cannot get married. Don't forget that it took a Supreme Court ruling to legalize same sex marriage. And you can't marry your cousin in the US. And then there's the question of avunculate marriage (banned in almost all states but acceptable, and encouraged, in much of the rest of the world)
Besides, absent that piece of paper called a marriage license (issued by the secular authorities) that church service is nothing more than a fancy ceremony with no legal import whatsoever. For that matter you can go down to City Hall and get married by a JP with no religious involvement whatsoever.
The age of consent in the US varies by state and ranges from 16 to 18 with 16 being the most common. BTW, there are exceptions - if the older party is in a "position of authority" (teacher, police officer, etc.) the age of consent is often higher (21?). And the age of consent for same sex activities is often higher.
And even then many states (but not all) have a "close in age" exemption (sometimes called a Romeo and Juliet law) that says that someone under the age of consent can have sex provided the older party is no more that a fixed number of years older (there is a minimum age below which someone can't give consent).
And that varies as you move around the world. For example, the age of consent in Canada is 16 [until relatively recently it was 14] but the close in age exemption says that a 14 or 15 year old can have sex provided the older party is less than 5 years older. Anyone younger that 14 can't give consent as a matter of law.

Diagnosis of "autism spectrum disorder" can be more subtle.

I disagree.
I do not see marriage as a function of government at all.
Rather than religious, I consider it cultural.
The original idea of marriage historically was to provide protection for dependents.
I do not see most marriage laws as being too draconian, but clearly the laws are too picky, such as not allowing same sex marriage until recently, Mississippi having a marriage age of 21, etc.
Law has no possible jurisdiction over marriage since those laws would be preventing individual rights instead of protecting them.

Whether or not the word "autism" was frequently used in the past, the conditions and symptoms were recorded, regardless of what the malady was labeled as.
So we know that the conditions and symptoms have greatly increase, by almost 5 times greater incidence.
Which is not at all unexpected, given the way we have deliberately violated the sanctity of the food chain with toxic compounds.
The only problem is diagnosing the source, since things like rf broadcasts could be just as likely a cause as could be vaccinations.
I don't know whether the per capita autism diagnosis is fairly steady, or if it's increasing. BUT !
An increase in per capita diagnosis does not necessarily mean a corresponding increase in the population. CERTAINLY that would explain it (if that's what it is). BUT !
That's not the only possible explanation.
Another perhaps more plausible explanation, improved diagnostic techniques, within the context of other maladies receding in the population, may have merely reduced the the former 20% undiagnosed,
down to 10%, presenting the superficial appearance that the actual disease is on the increase.
When I was a child, I knew of one child with hydrocephalus, one child who had polio, and one child who had to have chemo for a tumor.
These days almost everyone I know has either had cancer, deadly allergies, autism, open heart surgery, or some sort of major ailment.
That seems contradictory to the increasing lifespan, but the increased lifespan is due to a reduction of infant mortality.
Which does not really reflect the actual living experience after child birth.

The 1960's space race was a $costly diversion of scarce resources. BUT !
It may have been the most impressive human exploration in 500 years. AND !
As it took place during the Cold War, AND !
as ICBM's (big rockets) were a major if not decisive element of that Cold competition,
NASA / Apollo demonstrating proficiency may possibly have discouraged a Soviet first strike attempt.
It's a new millennium.
Manned space adventures in the context of $40 $Trillion $U.S. $Debt is madness.
That's not anti-progress.
It's fiscal conservatism. We simply can't afford it. Balance the budget. Pay the debt down to $zero, and Katie bar the door.
Until then, we have more important priorities, including sustainable A.I. / data centers, Lead-free drinking water, etc.
