Funny that if you look north of the border to Canada there have been comparatively few school shootings. Or mass shootings of any kind.I still agree with voting blue, but gun control laws clearly are not a solution to violence, and actually make it worse.
Since school shootings are almost always suicidal, the problem is actually one of mental health, and that society is vastly too stressful and hostile.
There is way too much emphasis on competition.

When were such hypocrites ever entitled to the "pro-life" claim?"If you're cool with banning abortion before you ban military style assault rifles that are used to massacre children in schools, you've lost the right to call yourself "pro-life."" #345
"It is necessary to the happiness of man that he be mentally faithful to himself. Infidelity does not consist in believing or in disbelieving; it consists in professing to believe what he does not believe." Thomas Paine 1737 - 1809

That said, I'd really like to know how you conclude that gun control laws make violence worse.
Please pardon me if my #350 reply is topic drift."The fact you have to get a gun permit in Canada is not a restriction at all." R5 #347
I'm aware Randy Weaver was pestered into shortening the barrel on a gun, at repeated request."Gun control laws in the US are used to murder innocent people, like at Waco and Ruby Ridge." R5 #347
By ignoring the word "style" in that sentence, you've transformed its meaning."There are no "military style assault rifles" sold to ordinary people in the US.
An assault rifle is full auto, and the AR-15 is single shot and is entirely different internally." R5 #348
It's not a deer rifle cartridge. It's used for killing & or injuring humans, thus the horrendous carnage at Sandy Hook, etc."In fact, the AR-15 has such a weak bullet that it is not legal to use for deer hunting in many states." R5
On that topic it's interesting that Soldier of Fortune magazine did publish an article that told how to convert that semi-automatic rifle to full auto in a few minutes.
Not at all - it was actually a pretty simple modification.Totally false.
On some guns they are inherently full auto and you have to add something to make them single shot.
Only with those is conversion to full auto easy.
With ARs, the recoil spring is way too weak for unrestricted full auto, and the gun would quickly dissentigrate if converted to simple blowback.
Instead, to convert an AR to full auto you need to add a lot of mechanism to detect when the bolt is back and when it is forward.
You have to buy parts costing hundreds, that are not legal or available.
And it still takes a skilled gunsmith hours to install.
The only guns that rely on simple blowback for full auto use pistol bullets, like the Uzi.
Please pardon me if my #350 reply is topic drift.
The word "permit" in that sentence is enough to reveal its factual error.
"Permit" mean to allow, to grant consent.
If such consent can be granted, it can be withheld, denied.
If government can deny the permit application, it's a restriction. Isn't it?
Registration may be different, for to register may simply mean to impart information,
to inform the government of the manufacturer, the calibre, the serial number, etc.
I'm aware Randy Weaver was pestered into shortening the barrel on a gun, at repeated request.
That does not render legitimate FBI sniper Lon Horriucci murdering Vicky Weaver while she stood in her own doorway, cradling her infant in her arms.
If a $taxpaying voter in good standing parks in front of a fire hydrant s/he may have to $pay a $fine.
For Horriucci, and ICE, etc., a government paycheck is a license to kill. "They" (meaning "we") $pay him.
By ignoring the word "style" in that sentence, you've transformed its meaning.
If they were assault weapons, we'd call them that.
We add the word "style" because of the substantial similarities, not because we pretend they're identical.
It's not a deer rifle cartridge. It's used for killing & or injuring humans, thus the horrendous carnage at Sandy Hook, etc.
Not at all - it was actually a pretty simple modification.
At the time I did ask friend of mine (Sandhurst grad who was in active service) and he agreed that the method would work but said that there was an even simpler method - one that didn't even require any tools.
