English is an idiomatic mine-field."I suppose blue is already sort of the associated color?" R5 #2,640
"Blue" can have connotations including:
- "blue" as in Democrat dominant as in "blue State" vs "red State", Republican dominant.
- despondent
- low temperature.
I try where possible to avoid ambiguity. I call the season "autumn" rather than "fall", to exclude the unintended meaning / suggestion of plummet. many etc.
However:
"In the black" implies deficit avoided, whereas"We need a color - what's the opposite of gold?" S2 #2,638
"in the red" implies deficit / debt incurred.
By that standard we could go with "black", but that also implies grim.
