"I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next....Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined." ~ Trump
Non-New Yorkers may not know:
While New York State in political (partisan) aggregate is "blue", majority Democrat, that's mainly due to the high population concentration of Democrats in the Southern tier, including New York, New York, the city so nice they named it twice. BUT !
In terms of square miles, New York State is mostly rural, substantially Republican, and in my neighborhood substantially pro-Trump.
At an Independence Day garden party earlier this month I overheard guests commiserating over how such late night hosts as Colbert & Kimmel are not merely not worth watching, but intolerable.
This leads to a recent revelation of mine.
Previously I thought Democrats might avoid Republican bias as partisan just as Republicans might avoid Democrat bias. NOPE!
Apparently Republicans consider anything objectionably biased if it isn't entirely supportive of the Trump agenda.
Meaning broad spectrum satire of politics in general is considered by MAGAs as objectionable.
And everyone knows that the only reason this happened was so that Trump wouldn't oppose a merger
"
a merger" of Paramount Global (including CBS) & Skydance Media, which President Trump reportedly has the authority to veto.
Facilitating, expediting this merger may merely be good business. BUT !
Is it worth sacrificing
The Late Show ?
Sometimes in politics you have to rise above principle. Sen. Everett Dirksen
And in bidness as well Senator. But is the Paramount / Skydance merger one of them?
