Why Can't Transgender People Just Be Treated Like Everyone Else?

I've spent a great deal of time lately writing about biological sex, Gender Identity, Gender Dysphoria, neuroscience, developmental biology, and what the research may or may not tell us about why some people are born transgender.

But recently another question occurred to me.

Why should I have to explain any of that before someone decides that I deserve to be treated with the same basic dignity and respect as anyone else?

I transitioned more than three decades ago. Since then, I have worked, paid taxes, gotten married, gone to church, attended and obtained my science degree, cared for patients for more than thirty years as a nurse, worried about bills, celebrated birthdays, buried people I loved, laughed, cried, made mistakes, and ...

Would this help?
Those seeking legal status recognition as non-binary obtain from their own personal physician an affidavit declaring a public toilet designation.
Require by law such persons adhere to their physician verified gender approximation in such public accommodations as public toilets, swim suit changing areas, etc.

You already know S2, pedophiles are attracted to the church, NOT because the church by official policy endorses child abuse, but instead
because the church concentrates children into vulnerable groups well suited to s/exploitation.

Abusers are opportunists.
And institutionalizing public toilet access by exception creates an opportunity for aspiring evil-doers.

Establish as the law your fantasy ideal policy solution to this issue,
and persons with inappropriate intentions are likely to seek & find systemic vulnerabilities to exploit, for disgraceful ulterior motives.

It's not about a finger in the eye to non-binaries.
It's about protecting those rendered vulnerable by diminutive stature, minor status, or other potentially exploitable infirmity.

Right?

Unless I'm misreading your intent, your concern is with predatory cismales, not with transwomen.

As for people with diminutive stature (and a minor at that) do you actually think this little girl would be safe in the men's room?

You consider "predatory cismales" "innocent"?
I've posted the word "innocent" four times on this page, explicitly advocating protecting them.

I'm not advocating indulging "predatory cismales".
Instead I cautioning against attempting to implement policy that could be used by them to exploitive advantage.

You understand there's ALREADY a problem.
You want to solve it.
So do I.

Any difference between us in that regard may be that while I'm enthusiastically in favor of satisfactorily addressing transwomen's issues,
I'd prefer to not address that problem by causing an even bigger problem.

Let's solve the transwomen's issue without making it worse, more dangerous for other vulnerable groups.

This thread / topic now careening toward one hundred pages is a hint: more easily said than done.

And how does accepting that transwomen are women make it more dangerous for them? That said, how are you going to know?

Forcing Kai Shappley (the girl in #1,930) and others like her to use the men's room is definitely not making it safe for her.

And you're saying that this woman belongs in the men's room?

Consider the 14 year old granddaughter whose grampa has taken her to Met Life stadium to watch the Jets lose again.

If ANY exception is made for non-cisfemales allowed in women's stadium restroom,
an aspiring evil-doer, or perhaps merely a curious / adventurous transvestite, may attempt to exploit the rule exception
for inappropriate reason.

In that scenario S2 I would consider the 14 year old granddaughter to be the vulnerable innocent.

I'm not a Jets fan. I would never know.
But the scenarios mimic infinite, including:

Transwoman impersonator behaves illegally, 14 year old granddaughter attempts to run away, the perv. gives chase, and
just as granddaughter is exiting the ladies room with her assailant right behind her, grampa is there, and ... .
