Caster Semenya isn't the only cis-female athlete to be banned because their natural testosterone levels are too high. (I'm sure it's just a coincidence that they've all been black. :unsure:)

And it wasn't that long ago that (white) female athletes were complaining that black women shouldn't be allowed to compete because they weren't feminine enough.

Which brings us back to Ms. Semenya - I've seen people comment that the reason the IOC decided to pick on her was because she's not exactly attractive. And she's gay (a butch dyke if you prefer).

Finland's Supreme Court has convicted a sitting MP for calling homosexuality a "developmental disorder." It took seven years — and three trials.

Päivi Räsänen, 66, a Christian Democrat MP and qualified medical doctor who has served in the Finnish Parliament since 1995, was convicted on 26 March after Finland's Supreme Court ruled that her claim it was "scientifically proven" that homosexuality is a developmental disorder met the legal threshold for incitement against a minority group.

The statements appeared in a Lutheran pamphlet titled "Male and Female He Created Them: Homosexual Relationships Challenge the Christian Understanding of Humanity," originally published in 2004 and later republished on her website in 2020.

The court voted 3-2 in favour of conviction. Räsänen had previously been unanimously acquitted by both the Helsinki District Court in 2022 and the Court of Appeal in 2023 — before Finland's Attorney General took the case to the Supreme Court for a guiding ruling.

She was fined €1,800 (£1,540). The court noted that while the statements met the threshold for incitement, they did not contain threats or calls to violence, and were therefore not at the most serious end of the scale. The court also ordered the unlawful passages to be removed from publication.

The US-based Alliance Defending Freedom International, which represented Räsänen throughout the case, called the conviction "an outrageous example of state censorship" — and has used the case as part of a wider global campaign warning of what it calls "creeping censorship" in Europe. The group successfully overturned Roe v. Wade in the United States.

Räsänen said the ruling was "a shock" and confirmed she is taking legal advice on a possible appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. "This is not about my free speech alone, but that of every person in Finland," she said.

The Supreme Court has ruled 8-1, on the global Transgender Day of Visibility no less, that faith-based torture of gay kids is acceptable because conservative Christians believe, with no actual evidence, that they can turn people straight. It’s yet another example of the Court giving unfair deference to religion with no regards to the facts.

In 2019, Colorado became the 18th state to pass a law banning “conversion therapy” for minors. The reasoning was simple: It’s not actual therapy. It’s not based in science and has been discredited by numerous medical and mental health organizations. It’s genuinely harmful, as evidenced by countless victims of the practice who have spoken out against it. The law said that any licensed medical professionals—bound to do right by their clients—couldn’t engage in the conspiracy.

“What this bill does is states that those who are licensed medical and mental health professionals cannot participate in that therapy,” [Sheena Kadi, deputy director of pro-LGBTQ group One Colorado] said on Saturday. “What this does is gives assurance to these families that are looking for that professional guidance that they will not be misled by a licensed medical or mental health professional that this is a credible practice.”

Our Constitution's Preamble suggests a "more perfect union", "more" being an important key word.

We have a long way to go.

The unCivil War ended centuries ago. The racial contentions did not.
Blacks comprise about 13% of the U.S. population, but a majority in the NFL.
And the NFL makes many of them $millionaires.
And they earn it. NFL football is a violent sport.

Occasional fans may catch a superbowl here or there, if for no other reason than the guacamole.

It's Thursday April 2, 2026. It's easy to Thursday morning quarterback this impressive institution, the NFL.

I don't have enough information to assess the merit of this female official's case.
I hope it is not only resolved equitably, but that the settlement results in a permanent constructive standard for the NFL, and other institutions.

Until then, kudos to this prominent imperfect United States entertainment venue.

Samantha Boucher, founder and executive director of Trans Liberty, deliberately used a women’s restroom inside the Kansas Statehouse on Tuesday (31 March) in defiance of the state’s newly enacted bathroom law, but she was neither arrested nor cited.

The act of civil disobedience, carried out on Transgender Day of Visibility, was intended to test how Kansas’ Senate Bill 244 is enforced, as the law restricts bathroom access based on sex assigned at birth and includes escalating penalties tied to complaints.

Boucher informed Capitol Police authorities of her intention to unlawfully use the bathroom when she entered the building. Capitol Police told Boucher they were not responsible for enforcing the civil aspects of the law; they said that they would notify the Kansas Department of Administration, as reported by Kansas Reflector.

Boucher was accompanied by Kansas Highway Patrol Lt. Grady Walker as she entered and exited the restroom multiple times. At Boucher’s request, Walker filmed her going in and out of the facility three times.

Walker reportedly interrogated Boucher in private afterwards and told reporters he was treating it as a criminal investigation. “We will not be able to discuss or disclose any information about this investigation until it’s concluded, but she is free to leave at this time,” Walker said.

Boucher said her organisation, Trans Liberty, plans to continue supporting trans Kansans impacted by the law, including those affected by related policies that have invalidated updated IDs. Trans Liberty’s initiative, Operation Lifeboat, is also providing Kansas’ trans residents with cash assistance and relocation support should they choose to leave the state.
