The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

I had assumed so.
One corroborating fragment of evidence, Trump initially announced a down-time of less than one year,
but that parameter expanded to two years, seemingly overnight.

I have not corroborated it, but encountered one report that there was Gold adornment at the exterior of the Trump / Kennedy center, and under Trump's leadership that Gold accent was painted over.

ICE confirms measles inside Texas detention center holding growing number of immigrant families
Donald Trump’s administration has confirmed at least two “active measles infections” among immigrant detainees at a family detention center in Texas, hours after the release of a five-year-old boy and his father whose case fueled outrage against the president’s mass deportation efforts.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement is “ceasing all movement” at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center and is quarantining anyone “suspected of making contact with the infected,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.
“All detainees are being provided with proper medical care,” according to a statement Sunday.
The statement follows growing alarm from immigration attorneys and members of Congress who feared an outbreak inside the facility, which holds more than 1,000 families, including young children.

Hoist by his own petard?

Trump’s Profiteering Hits $4 Billion

In August, I reported that the President and his family had made $3.4 billion by leveraging his position. After his first year back in office, the number has ballooned.

Trump says he’ll protect time slot for Army-Navy game by executive order

by Ryan Mancini

President Trump on Saturday said he will sign an executive order to secure an “EXCLUSIVE” four-hour time slot for the annual Army-Navy college football game in December.

“The Army-Navy Game is one of our Greatest American Traditions — Unmatched Patriotism, Courage, and Honor!” Trump posted on Truth Social. “This incredible Tradition is now at risk of being pushed aside by more College Playoff Games, and Big TV Money. NOT ANYMORE!

He wrote that he will sign the executive order “soon,” adding that “No other Game or Team can violate this Time Slot!!!”

“On the field, they are rivals, but on the battlefield they are America’s unstoppable Patriots, defending our Country with tremendous Strength and Heart,” the president wrote. “We must protect the Tradition, and the Players, who protect us. Please let this serve as Notice to ALL Television Networks, Stations, and Outlets.”

Trump, a known football fan, appeared at the 126th Army-Navy game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore last month. He shook hands with players and team captains on the field before the game.

At the 50-yard-line, Trump tossed a coin to determine who would decide whether to kick or receive first. The Army won the toss.

The president spent equal time with the Navy side and the Army side, switching from one side of the stadium to the other during halftime. Trump returned to the field and tossed ....

#2,647 is an interesting insight into leadership.
A good leader and a bad leader can have the same objective.
In that case the distinction is method of leadership.

The Pope can lead millions of Catholics around the globe by presenting his ideas and interpretations persuasively enough for them to be faithfully if not eagerly followed.

Dispensing with the skill of persuasion, issue an edict. It is the method of a dictator.

And what was the name of your broadcast television presence Mr. President? The Apprentice? Are you holding back a second broadcast television edict?

We've been at it for a quarter-millennium.
One might wonder why after centuries of history it is now necessary for such law.
Is it necessary because ICE' own internal guidelines don't address this? Or ... ?

"Philadelphia just drew a hard line on ICE. They have INTRODUCED legislation to rein in ICE.
Agents can't wear masks, Must show ID, Judicial warrants only, Assault a bystander > arrested
This is what accountability looks like. This isn't law yet, but it's the blueprint. Pass it. Enforce it. Take it nationwide. meme #2,649
note:
The [Liberty Bell] museum was constructed and opened in 1962, and included exhibits relating to the Liberty Bell and subjects including liberty, freedom, patriotism and local history. It also contained a full-size replica of the Liberty Bell, one of 55 replicas cast in France in 1950, for a U.S. Treasury Department savings bond promotion, which visitors were permitted to ring. More from Wikipedia

Let us hope the bell you visit is the original.
Kudos to Philadelphia for not merely maintaining stewardship of the symbol, but innovating leadership of the principle.

In a serious country a lot of people would be in jail - have to ask why the Boards of public companies haven't turfed a bunch of senior execs who appear in those files.

"I'm genuinely confused." RD #2,655
That would explain it.
That is not the only possible explanation.
And in this case, probably not the most accurate.

Applying historic norms as context for the Trump administration wrecking-ball can leave (and apparently has left) the mind of the rational observer perplexed.

You are correct RD #2,655, the Ockham's Razor conclusion is often: I the observer am unlikely to be more rational than the U.S. president, so I the observer am wrong. BUT !

It's the Trump administration. Not relevant? The former East wing of the white house is rubble.

a) ugh
b) I don't fault Trump for aging. Many people do.

The obvious counterpoint: what's the alternative?

There's plenty of room for more substantive criticism on policy, including murders in Minnesota.
