Uh oh... next he'll be demanding access to B.C.'s 'water faucet' and other Canadian 'faucets' he thinks should belong to him
People need to understand this water “crisis” Trump is screaming about is WAY more complex than the President puffing his chest and threatening Mexico with a 5% tariff.
Trump is acting like he can bully nature, bully Mexico, and somehow magically make water appear during a historic drought a drought impacting BOTH Texas and northern Mexico. Water doesn’t come from speeches. It doesn’t come from fear-mongering. And you can’t deliver water that literally doesn’t exist.
Here’s the part Trump isn’t telling anyone:
The U.S. and Mexico have a long-standing water treaty where BOTH countries depend on each other.
We give Mexico huge guaranteed water deliveries from the Colorado River every single year.
Mexico gives Texas water from its tributaries over a five-year cycle. This arrangement prevents water wars and keeps the price of fruits, vegetables, and agriculture stable on both sides.
If Trump storms in with his cowboy diplomacy threatening tariffs, insulting Mexico, and acting like Mexico is “stealing” water then BOTH countries will suffer.
And guess who pays first?
American consumers.
Higher food prices. Empty fields. Lost jobs.
This isn’t just politics it’s our food supply.
What we should be demanding right now is a comprehensive drought assessment from the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC).
A real scientific report on reservoir levels, rainfall collapse, climate patterns, and why water deliveries are behind.
Because this isn’t sabotage this is climate reality.
Texas and northern Mexico are in one of the worst long-term drought periods ever recorded.
Global warming isn’t a hoax it’s literally drying up the rivers we’re fighting over.
This is the moment for cooperation, not conflict.
Water scarcity requires diplomacy, engineers, hydrologists, and long-term planning not another strongman performance for cable news clips.
Threatening tariffs and stoking a resource war won’t create a single drop of water.
Working WITH Mexico might.
