His choice turned around and said the same thing. Either New Yorkers elect him (Cuomo) or Trump will come for them.

The implication is obvious. Miller is vowing to punish the people of New York City for voting for a pro-immigration Muslim by deploying the instruments of state violence to tear families apart, deport children, crack more skulls and throw more people into their inhumane gulag camps to be abused, raped, and treated like animals by his ICE goons.

It’s a blood-chilling and absolutely monstrous way to react to an election loss. For all his incessant whining about the imaginary violence of the left, he is the pathetic and insecure slug who immediately wants to inflict violence and terror on innocent people because the sexual predator he backed didn’t win an election. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday morning that the ongoing government shutdown was partly to blame for Republican losses on Election Day.
Trump told reporters during a breakfast with GOP lawmakers at the White House that election night on Tuesday "was not expected to be a victory," saying the 36-day government shutdown was one of two possible reasons.
"I think, if you read the pollsters, the shutdown was a big factor," Trump said. "Negative for the Republicans, and that was a big factor."

His remarks come after Democrats won resoundingly in multiple states on Tuesday, with exit polls showing economic worries were very much on the minds of voters.
"I don't think it was good for Republicans," Trump said of the election results. "I don't think it's good. I'm not sure it was good for anybody."
Some major losses for Republicans included the New York City mayoral race, and contests for governor in New Jersey and Virginia. Democrats also secured another expected win in California, where voters approved a new congressional map that is designed to help their party win five more U.S. House seats in next year’s midterm elections.

Short voter memory is Trump's friend. It may explain why Trump lost the 2020 election, at the tail end of Trump's first four year presidential term, AND why Trump won in 2024.
In 2020 the electorate had four years of Trump administration performance to base their vote on. You want 4 more years of this ?! The People said "No thank you" violent insurrection not required.

It may be an oversimplification to assert the results of yesterday's elections were a referendum on the Trump administration, and or the Republican party.

On basis of media image mastery this is surely NOT Trump's finest moment. - but -
This is rather low on the list of criticisms to dwell upon.

If my family were to go hungry because Republicans were withholding SNAP funding, I would want Trump's help.
If I was passed out on the oval office floor, I wouldn't.
