"300,000 kids in Iowa are on Medicaid - they will all lose coverage." 1,001

"I'm not gunna cut Social Security like every other Republican. I'm not gunna cut Medicare or Medicaid." Candidate Donald Trump 15/05/26

"I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's gunna be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now." Candidate Trump 15/09/27 to CBS Scott Pelly

What has my attention,
not only has the Trump administration laid waste to this aid to poor children, but that he's skyrocketing the deficit to do so.

CBS-TV evening news this evening broadcast a segment on unemployment among college grads.
CBS reports unemployment is unusually high within this group, and blames A.I., suggesting robots are taking entry level positions.

Not sure how that will affect the labor force / employment 5 or 10 years from now. AND

I'm not sure we can blame Trump for this one, though it may be too early to know the ratio, Trump : non-Trump causes.

Trump makes a habit of pushing the envelope, knowing the courts may smack him down here or there. When not, Trump considers it a win for him.
Trump's deportation binge may only be limited by how radical they wish to go.

Without specific details, such as breaking ground for crematoria, #1,009 is something to watch out for. BUT !
There's no doubt other elements related to Hitler's Holocaust are reflected in Trump's xenophobic regime. Scare-mongering.

Cynthia Ivanna Olivera, a Canadian woman who has been in America since she was a child, who has worked and paid taxes here for 25 years, who married an American citizen and has 3 children who are American citizens, has been imprisoned by ICE since June 13.

Her husband proudly voted for Trump last November. BOTH she and her husband supported Trump's anti-immigation policies.

"I feel blind-sided. I want my vote back," said her husband.

Newsweek reports that Cynthia Olivera has never broken the law in her life, except for paperwork issues concerning her legal status here. She DOES have a work permit obtained during the Biden administration.

But those issues forced her to be returned to Canada, and when she tried to re-enter the country again, on June 13th, TO HAVE A GREEN CARD INTERVIEW in Chatsworth, California she was arrested on a FELONY charge. AT the interview. She was taken away in handcuffs and has been imprisoned in Texas, far away from her family, ever since.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
It is FAFO time, folks. Trump says what Trump says. And then his cohorts and Cabinet heads, like Kristi Noem, just keep on doing the things they always ....

This second Trump administration is vivid evidence of broad-scale systemic failure. Trump lied his way into office again and guileless voters by the tens of millions fell for it again.

It's beyond simple partisan divergence of political preference. The Trump administration is a threat to U.S. sovereignty.
We're supposed to believe Hegseth is on par with Austin?

Should critical thinking be added to U.S. public school curriculum?

Lloyd Austin

American general (born 1953)
Lloyd Austin
Lloyd James Austin III (born August 8, 1953) is a retired United States Army general who served as the 28th United States secretary of defense from 2021 to 2025.
Before retiring from the military in 2016, Austin served as the 12th commander of United States Central Command (CENTCOM), beginning in March 2013. Prior to that he served as the 33rd vice chief of staff of the Army from January 2012 to March 2013, and as commander of United States Forces – Iraq from September 2010 to December 2011. He is the first African American to hold each of these positions. After retiring from the armed services, Austin joined the boards of Raytheon Technologies, Nucor, Tenet Healthcare, and Auburn University. On December 7, 2020, he was nominated for defense secretary by then-President-elect Joe Biden and was confirmed by the United States Senate on January 22, 2021, by a vote of 93–2.
Austin holds the unique distinction of having commanded in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan at the one-, two-, three- and four-star levels, and was the first African American to command a division, corps, and field army in combat. He is a recipient of the Silver Star, the nation's third highest award for valor, for his actions during the Iraq invasion, as well as five Defense Distinguished Service Medals. More from Wikipedia

Pete Hegseth

American government official (born 1980)
Pete Hegseth
Peter Brian Hegseth (born June 6, 1980) is an American author, former television presenter, and former Army National Guard officer who has been the 29th United States secretary of defense since 2025.
Hegseth studied politics at Princeton University, where he was the publisher of The Princeton Tory, a conservative student newspaper. In 2003, he was commissioned as an infantry officer in the Minnesota Army National Guard, serving at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Hegseth worked for several organizations after leaving Iraq, including as an executive director at Vets for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America. He became a contributor for Fox News in 2014. Hegseth served as an advisor to President Donald Trump after supporting his campaign in 2016. From 2017 to 2024, Hegseth was a co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend. He has written several books, including American Crusade (2020) and The War on Warriors (2024).
In November 2024, President-elect Trump named Hegseth as his nominee for secretary of defense. In a Senate Committee on Armed Services hearing held days before Trump's second inauguration, Hegseth faced allegations of sexual misconduct, financial mismanagement, and alcohol issues. Hegseth was confirmed by the Senate that month, with Vice President JD Vance casting a tie-breaking vote. It was only the second time in U.S. history that a Cabinet nominee's confirmation was decided by a vice president (following Betsy DeVos during the first Trump administration in 2017). Hegseth is the second-youngest secretary of defense after Donald Rumsfeld and the first Minnesotan to hold the position.

Only thing is the Supreme Court has just ruled that federal judges can't block him - that leaves SCOTUS and, since they're going on recess until October there is nothing standing in his way.
