Six days after his dad won the presidency, Donald Trump Jr. quietly took a new job. He became a partner in a barely-known Florida investment firm called 1789 Capital, just two miles from Mar-a-Lago. At the time, the company had raised less than $200 million and had made exactly one big investment—$15 million into Tucker Carlson’s new media company. Their pitch? To build a "parallel economy" for anti-woke businesses that align with MAGA values.

Fast forward a few months and 1789 is suddenly landing premium deals with the biggest players in tech and defense. It’s been handed shares in Elon Musk’s SpaceX and his AI firm xAI—investments typically reserved for high-rollers with deep connections. Now it’s flush with Pentagon-tied investments, including Firehawk Aerospace, Aeon Industrial, and the defense tech giant Anduril, which recently secured contracts worth $22 billion and $642 million for AR goggles and anti-drone systems.

This isn’t just good timing. According to Business Insider, Don Jr.’s little firm has also benefited from lucrative federal contracts and potential insider access—just as the Trump administration shifts billions in taxpayer dollars to companies like SpaceX, now the Pentagon’s top launch provider.

And here's where it gets even murkier. 1789 has opened a private club in Georgetown called “The Executive Branch,” where for half a million dollars, elite members can mingle behind closed doors with Trump insiders—an obvious pipeline for deal-making while his father holds the presidency.

As watchdogs and legal scholars point out, the red flags are waving in high wind. "If the son of the president is benefiting from these deals, even if there’s a few degrees of separation, is there a level playing field? We just don’t know," says Scott Amey from the Project on Government Oversight.

Meanwhile, MAGA world still froths at the mouth about Hunter Biden. But here’s the difference: Hunter didn’t funnel federal contracts to the companies paying him. He didn’t launch private clubs for pay-to-play access while his father was in office. Don Jr., on the other hand, is running the kind of political profit scheme Republicans once screamed about.

Imagine for a moment if Hunter Biden had opened a millionaires-only club and started landing Space Force contracts while Joe Biden was president. The GOP wouldn’t just demand his resignation—they’d demand his exile.

Even some former Trump insiders are shocked. “What they’re doing is selling access to the president via the back door,” said one source familiar with the family. “It’s beyond hypocritical.”

In just three months, 1789 Capital has raised half a billion dollars and is now aiming for $1 billion by summer. By next year, they’re targeting as much as $5 billion. And Don Jr.—the man who once mocked Hunter for riding his dad’s coattails—is now doing the exact same thing. Only bigger. And with your tax dollars on the line.

This is no longer a story about Hunter Biden’s paintings or his laptop. This is about Donald Trump Jr. building an empire on government connections, with the MAGGOTS cheering him on.

note:
The best / easiest time to snuff out a wildfire is while it's still on the match.
All this would be a non-issue if the United States Constitution had been enforced, and this insurrectionist in chief had simply been kept off the primary election ballots as Section 3 of our 14th Amendment requires. Plenty of blame to go around, our judiciary, Biden, Harris, and the U.S. electorate.
God doesn't post neon warning signs on the event horizon. Cross the invisible line, and you're SOL.
If it is not already too late for emergency self-rescue, it evidently all too soon will be. Bye bye Constitution !

These Hidden Provisions in the Budget Bill Undermine Our Democracy

By Eric Kashdan May 22, 2025
... buried in Section 70302 of the legislation— would severely restrict federal courts’ authority to hold government officials in contempt if they violate judicial orders.
A court’s ability to hold bad actors in contempt is a vital enforcement power that judges can use to compel compliance with their rulings.
When somebody chooses to violate a court order, the judge who issued the ruling has a few different options to force them to comply, including holding them in contempt and issuing sanctions, fines, or even jail time until the order is followed.
But the reconciliation bill would require anyone suing the government to pay a bond before the court can use its contempt power to enforce injunctions or restraining orders meant to halt illegal actions.
By restricting this authority, the House bill threatens the power of the judicial branch. On its own, that represents an attack on the rule of law and the separation of powers that underlies our democracy. But in the context of our current political moment, a more specific goal is unfortunately clear.

Courts have already ruled at least 170 times against the Trump administration, including a preliminary injunction sought by CLC that halted Trump’s unconstitutional attempt to change the rules for federal elections. In response to many of these rulings, the president has resisted compliance and waged intimidation campaigns targeting the judges responsible.
In light of all this, the House bill seems squarely and unacceptably focused on shielding the Trump administration from accountability when it breaks the law.
To make matters worse, the new rule would be so broad that it could allow any government actor to escape being held accountable for violating court rulings. It would also apply to court orders and injunctions issued before the law takes effect. This would render thousands of prior orders across the country immediately unenforceable through contempt proceedings, no matter how the public has already relied on them.
This provision cannot be allowed to stand.

"This provision cannot be allowed to stand."

Let us all hope Trump philanthropy is not Plan-A for blocking this provision.

How NOT to do science

On May 23, President Trump signed an executive order he’s calling a “restoration of gold standard science.” But don’t be fooled, this is not about scientific integrity. It’s about political control.

The order gives Trump’s political appointees sweeping power over federal science. They can now:

- Vet and approve all scientific research
- “Correct” scientific findings that don’t align with the administration’s views
- Control public communication of scientific data
- Discipline federal scientists who speak out or deviate from the party line

This is not a restoration, it’s a hostile takeover. Scientific independence has always been a cornerstone of public trust, policy, and progress. This order destroys that. Agency heads have just 30 days to comply.

Silencing scientists doesn’t make the facts go away. It just makes our country less safe, less informed, and less free.

Japan responds to Trump on tariffs

DONALD TRUMP'S TARIFFS are an extortion! Japan is saying it, the World is seeing it, and Americans are feeling it! The United States under the Trump regime is a criminal, racist Nation. As American citizens, we are criminals as well, by placing Trump in the White House and not pushing back against his criminal activity.

Japan is pushing back! Canada is pushing back! Even China is pushing back. Not the American people, we are not pushing back, because we are a criminal nation, and the world knows it. We are following Donald Trump, who will end our nation's world leadership. China is taking over the role along with Canada, France, Mexico, and any other country that is pushing back against Donald Trump!

And Japan's not the only one

=======================================

BREAKING: Donald Trump gets utterly humiliated by Chinese President Xi Jinping as his tariff negotiations backfire and Xi refuses to hop on a phone call with him despite Trump being "obsessed" with the idea.

And it gets so much more embarrassing...

"I like President XI of China, always have, and always will, but he is VERY TOUGH, AND EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH!!!" Trump blasted out on Truth Social in the middle of the night.

One clear indication that Trump is on the back foot with the Chinese president is the display of relative restraint. When dealing with most foreign leaders, he quickly resorts to insults. In the case of Xi, he compliments him even as he complains about him.

The pathetic little outburst comes a day after the Trump administration confirmed that it sent formal letters to numerous countries begging them to submit their "best offers" on trade deals ahead of the July 9th deadline imposed by the pause on Trump's so-called "reciprocal" tariffs.

If negotiations were going well and we were on track for the "90 deals in 90 days" that were promised, such reminders would not be necessary. The truth is that foreign countries are reluctant to come to any kind of agreement with an administration that has repeatedly shown itself to be deeply unreliable. Why cut a deal with Trump if he might just turn around in a few months time and reimplement the tariffs?

Bloomberg reports that the negotiations with China are proving particularly difficult for the administration. Trump has been eager for "direct talks" with Xi but Xi has been "reluctant to get on the phone with his American counterpart" preferring instead to let his advisors negotiate.

Politico reports that Trump is "obsessed with having a call with Xi" because he believes it might finally lead to a breakthrough.

The White House claimed on Monday that the two leaders would "likely talk this week" but an administration official told Politico yesterday that the call hadn't been scheduled.

Currently, the United States has a 30% tariff on Chinese goods and China has 10% duties on American products, down from 145% and 135% respectively. This decrease is due to a 90 day "pause," meaning that the numbers could spike back up if a deal is not reached.

A "person familiar with the trade talks" told Politico that the Trump administration is "under a lot of pressure" due to China's block on crucial minerals and components needed for everything from electronics to munitions.

"I don’t think Xi is too interested in exporting any more rare earths or magnets to the United States, he’s made his position clear," the person said.

In the end, TACO Trump will likely do what he always does: cave entirely and claim it as a victory.
