In psychology this is called "projecting" Psychology To attribute (one's own emotion or motive, for example) to someone else

It seems to me vividly revealing whether a call to action is based on logic & truth, or distortion & fantasy.
Speaker Johnson may be a capable legislative leader (or not)*. BUT ! He is certainly not a legitimate spokesperson for the Democrats. Cram a gavel in it Mr. Speaker.
