"Even if she had won she still wouldn't be king (or queen in her case)" S2 #2,040
True, but only peripherally relevant.
a) "anoint", the verb used by FOX in #2,038, invokes not royalty directly, but religion, or the divine.
b) Those that criticize invite retaliatory criticism. Trump may be the least qualified / least suited presidential candidate of my lifetime, and perhaps for all time (so far).
While Trump & campaign far from ideal, Biden / the Dems faltered terribly, and are far from blameless in Trump's second term.

"... and would have to obey the law." S2 #2,040 ref #2,039
Primary voters voted for Biden, not Harris. There's far more to the problem than that, but that alone is problem enough.

"And the fact that she was appointed to be the candidate didn't stop people from voting for (or against) her in the actual election."
She was not the candidate chosen in the primary.
And it would be stunningly alarming to believe the Democrats could not have found a more suitable 2024 presidential candidate than Harris, if standard protocols were followed,
and Biden did as he suggested, and run as a transitional candidate, suggesting a single 4 year term.

The Republicans are far from perfect here, and may yet cause the demise of our Constitutional republic. BUT !
The Democrats erred, blundered mightily, and their nation scale botch may only seem a little less horrific in context of the Republican disaster that accompanied it.

Given the timing of Biden stepping down I don't think it was feasible to go thru the entire primary process before the election.

Besides, as was the case with Hillary it looks like the DNC was salivating over the idea of a female POTUS (and one of color at that).

"Given the timing of Biden stepping down I don't think it was feasible to go thru the entire primary process before the election." S2 #2042
Precisely. AND !
While that problem can be explained by Democrat incompetence, it can also be explained by Biden administration treachery. Which of those two explanations is supposed to appeal to swing voters?

You're right of course.
But rather than letting the Dems. off the hook, it verifies their unsuitability. As a voter I do not consider incompetence, - OR - treachery an attractive characteristic for a presidential candidate / party.

Corroborating the appearance of what is inappropriate.

"Can't stop laughing" S2 #2,043
A good, long, hard laugh can be therapeutic. But,
the green lady in the harbor is in full palm-plant.

"Bendix" #2,048
- snicker -

Superman began as a '30's vintage comic book.
When it was a broadcast commercial television series in the '50's the title star was George Reeves. BUT !
Even if first, was he best?
Chris Reeves seems to have been the definitive Superman, much as Sean Connery, the definitive 007.

One benefit sci-fi provides is circumventing prejudice.
It enables the reader to consider a dispute, a contention, an issue without the overlay of personal bias.
Instead of a "white" (orange) president deporting Mexicans, it's fiction.

Whether that results in enlightenment ... who knows?

A blast from the past - a commentary on the Gulf War #2,050
Because any U.S. president is commander in chief, should U.S. voters insist that their candidates be U.S. military veterans?

"Let's get Trump back so we can have peace in Ukraine ..." CK #2,051
Didn't Trump promise to end the Russia / Ukraine War before inauguration day? And now a half-year into his second term, Trump's answer is - let 'em fight - .

Because any U.S. president is commander in chief, should U.S. voters insist that their candidates be U.S. military veterans?
Not necessarily - but it's not unreasonable to expect the children of Washington policy makers aren't somehow exempt from being called up.

A correction - did a little digging - while Alabama's abortion law has no exemptions for rape or incest (only if the woman's life is in danger) nothing would happen to the girl but the doctor who performed the procedure would be in trouble.
