The Wizard of Oz was an unusual movie, filmed part black & white, part color.
It did not win Best Picture as it was released the same year as Gone With The Wind which won instead.

Plot summary for the Oz film:
A Kansas school girl is transported to a surreal landscape, kills the first person she meets, and then teams up with strangers to kill again.
Did I mention it's a musical ?

The school girl was played by Liza Minnelli's Mom Judy Garland.

Actress Margaret Hamilton delivered a smash-it-out-of-the-park performance as the Wicked Witch of the West. You aced it Marge!

And when she reprised the role on Sesame Street (1976) the episode was only shown once because it was deemed too scary for children.

Bad idea.

Had the PBS people not seen the Oz movie ?!

Photos, vids, etc ....

I recommend the 7680x4320 version, BUT beware, it's high-res.

"Sesame Street ... suitable for kids." #2,005

- preposterous -

PBS stands for Prison-Bound Scoundrels [/satire]

Dr. Italo Benin said in previous centuries the grandparent's generation served the nuclear family not merely as baby-sitter but as a reservoir of wisdom, storytellers.
And that now that we warehouse / marginalize them in retirement communities, television has been pressed to the role, replacing them.

Not a lot of down-side to PBS children's programming, perhaps particularly beneficial to those most in need such as latch-key kids.

Sony Corp. of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc., 464 U.S. 417 (1984), also known as the "Betamax case"

BUT !

Bad idea. Too scary for the lower end of that age range. BUT !
One blem on a generations long record, still an A+. Thanks PBS.

"exploding by an astounding 9,900% increase!" #2,007
"9,900%"?
Not to defend Trump, but to question the validity of the methodology:
what's the baseline, the 100%?
The first use? Meaning one?
The total of uses the first day (24 hrs, midnight to midnight) of its use in media?
First week?

How do we know they're not googling TACO because Trumponomics MAGA them hungry? Fast food has to be fast indeed to outpace Trump food $inflation.

The suspense is killing me. I hope it lasts.

So far, nothing we haven't heard before. But then there's this (can anyone confirm whether it's real?)

Blessed be the tacos. May the Taco Bell always be open and may Tac-o-Lago welcome you (provided you can pay a million dollar membership fee)
