The 2026 mid-term election is less than a month away.
The Trumpets have left the globe in shambles.
The president of the United States has publicly offered a carrot & stick bribe to the U.S. electorate:
- maintain Republican leadership and you get $5,000.oo - or -
- Trump will not support the States that don't.

In this context the distinction between a political opponent and an adversary / enemy can be blurred.

And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee." John Donne Devotions upon Emergent Occasions XVII

* The psychological counterpoint worth considering here:
we may perceive others as deficient if they subordinate their humanity to more base manifestations of contempt, vengeance, malice.

The well-centered personality defines itself. It's cause for alarm if we find the destructive dysfunction of our opponents / adversaries
contaminating our approach to humanity.

This could be internalized, excuse for self-flagellation.
But perhaps we ought not overlook: perhaps in the era of President Trump, our political opponents are indeed also our enemies ? Rest in Peace Speaker Hastert

Disgraced former House Speaker Dennis Hastert dies at 84

The Illinois Republican was sentenced to 15 months in prison after leaving Congress for scheming to cover up child molestation accusations.

{...
In 2016, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison for financial offenses related to the sexual abuse of teenage boys. He admitted to the abuse at a sentencing hearing, though he was never convicted of any sexual crimes.[4][5][6]

From 1965 to 1981, Hastert was a high school teacher and wrestling coach at Yorkville High School in Yorkville, Illinois.
...
In May 2015, Hastert was indicted on federal charges of structuring bank withdrawals to evade bank reporting requirements and making false statements to federal investigators. Federal prosecutors said that the funds withdrawn by Hastert were used as hush money to conceal his past sexual misconduct.[7][5] In October 2015, Hastert entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors. Under the agreement, Hastert pleaded guilty to the structuring charge (a felony); the charge of making false statements was dropped.[8]

In court submissions filed in April 2016, federal prosecutors alleged that Hastert had molested at least four boys as young as 14 years of age during his time as a high school wrestling coach.[4] At a sentencing hearing, Hastert admitted that he had sexually abused boys whom he had coached.[6] Referring to Hastert as a "serial child molester", a federal judge imposed a sentence of 15 months in prison, two years' supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.

Thank you R5 & S2.
I'm obviously quite clumsy about a coherent message here.
Fact is, I nearly included the " :) " in the original post #229 announcement.
I've been a victim of my own conscience since I posted a joke involving murder, post #1,635

My excuse for (one of) the punchline is, it was not about murder, only a misunderstanding about murder.

2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you." Matthew 7:1-2

So Matthew, you preach that god gave us judgment, and expects us to not use it?

😳
President Trump has managed to amass an abundance of disfavor two weeks from November's elections.
Political opponents may snicker at this conspicuous Trump administration failure. B U T !
A competently run oval office should have prevented this.
Apparently President Trump learned on camera of Zacharia's lack of qualification.

CONCLUSION:
President Trump is running the United States haphazardly, without the basic protocol even of vetting his own press secretary. *
There doesn't appear to be a clamor of qualified applicants seeking to replace Zacharia.

President Trump has plunged the globe into crisis.
Evidently Trump lacks the skill and or desire for remedy.

Homer Simpson's voice actor changed at least once. An imperfect match.
If Bart Simpson's voice actor was a boy puberty would have messed it up.
So Bart Simpson's voice actress is a woman, Nancy Cartwright. Up yours testosterone!

Ever hear Mel Blanc voice-characterizing the stalling Maxwell?

Tough to beat the 3 B's, Blanc, Bond (Connery), Bogart.
