Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, each a national treasure.
Martin was stellar in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and his musical intro scene in Little Shop of Horrors.
Murphy's Beverly Hills COP very well done.
I can't be objective about it.
I may never know if SNL simply drooped.
Or if in my advancing years my critic's nose has turned upward.

On CBS-TV The Late Show Father Sarducci predicted the outcome of the papal selection conclave scheduled for commencement today.
Sarducci predicts the conclave will re-select Pope Benedict the 16th.
CBS host Colbert reminded Sarducci that B16 is dead. BUT !
Sarducci explained, it's like Elvis. Dead perhaps, but it hasn't diminished all the Elvis sightings.
Sarducci further disclosed, this new old pope will be named Pope Benedict the 16th the second.

President Trump presides with the style of a "reality" TV host, deliberately unprepared, relying on his own extemporaneous style.
Sarducci's comedic stylings are quite similar, but without the megalomaniacal overtones.

The poem that formed the basis of the song "Puff, the Magic Dragon" was written in 1959 by Leonard Lipton, a nineteen-year-old Cornell student. Lipton was inspired by an Ogden Nash rhyme about a "Really-O Truly-O Dragon," and, using a dragon as the central figure, he came up with a poem about the end of childhood innocence. Lipton passed his work along to a friend, fellow Cornell student (and folk music enthusiast) Peter Yarrow, who put a melody to the words and wrote additional lyrics to create the song "Puff, the Magic Dragon." Re #37 - despite the true story of the origins of the song and it's meaning it did become the drug anthem of a generation.
Stoners: often in error, seldom in doubt ...
- Cannabis is a tall annual dioecious plant
- a source of natural fiber for cordage and textiles
- a wildly popular recreational drug
- a topical analgesic
- a black-market mainstay helping to bash cracks into oppressive government's Drug War, and a State by State revenue source of $Millions
- a source of counter-culture cohesion
We may never know.
Can we rule out the possibility marijuana would be about as widely disregarded, marginalized as Ginseng, Elderberry, or St. John’s wort without the prestige, the "forbidden fruit" appeal Drug War has confer upon marijuana?
It's a reality overlooked by many a layman:
some of the most peace-loving Americans are employed as high-ranking, policy making, strategy planning commissioned military officers in the Pentagon.
And some of the most vehement supporters of Drug War were drug kingpins:
- Al Capone
- Pablo Escobar
- Arellano Félix brothers,
- etc
