Just a little humor

The Kobayashi Maru is a fictional spacecraft training exercise in the Star Trek continuity. It is designed by Starfleet Academy to place Starfleet cadets in a no-win scenario. The Kobayashi Maru test was invented for the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and it has since been referred to and depicted in numerous other Star Trek media.

The nominal goal of the exercise is to rescue the civilian fuel ship Kobayashi Maru, which is damaged and stranded in neutral territory between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. The cadet being evaluated must decide whether to attempt to rescue the Kobayashi Maru—endangering their ship and crew—or leave Kobayashi Maru to certain destruction. If the cadet chooses to attempt a rescue, an insurmountable enemy force attacks their vessel. It is described as testing the character of cadets rather than their actual skills, acclimating them to the emotional toll of defeat. A key plot point of many depictions is James T. Kirk becoming the only cadet to rescue Kobayashi Maru by hacking the simulation instead.

The phrase "Kobayashi Maru" has entered the popular lexicon as a reference to a no-win scenario. The term is also sometimes used to invoke Kirk's decision to "change the conditions of the test."

The word "unicorn" appears nine times in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, exclusively in the Old Testament, including passages such as Numbers 23:22, Numbers 24:8, Deuteronomy 33:17, Job 39:9-10, Psalm 22:21, Psalm 29:6, and Isaiah 34:7 Bible ReasonsBible Reasons+2. However, the original Hebrew word is re’em (רְאֵם), which refers to a strong, untamable, horned animal, often interpreted as a wild ox or aurochs, an extinct species of large cattle GotQuestions.orgGotQuestions.org+1.
The translation to "unicorn" in the KJV comes from the Septuagint’s Greek word monokeros and the Latin Vulgate’s unicornis, meaning "one-horned," which led English translators to adopt "unicorn" even though the biblical creature was not the mythical horse with a single horn GotQuestions.orgGotQuestions.org+1. Modern Bible translations, such as the NIV and NRSV, typically render re’em as "wild ox" or sometimes "rhinoceros," reflecting a more accurate understanding of the animal described Bible ReasonsBible Reasons+2.
In the biblical context, the "unicorn" symbolizes strength, power, and untamable nature, often used metaphorically to illustrate God’s power or the might of His people GotQuestions.orgGotQuestions.org+1. For example, Numbers 23:22 compares God’s strength to that of a unicorn, and Psalm 22:21 uses the image of unicorns to describe formidable enemies Bible ReasonsBible Reasons+1.
In summary, while the KJV mentions unicorns, these references do not describe the mythical creature of legend. Instead, they refer to a real, powerful, horned animal known in the ancient Near East, emphasizing strength and ferocity rather than fantasy

- boat -

Why do scuba divers fall backwards off the boat?
Because if they fell forward they’d still be on the boat.

I heard the "back roll" is supposed to be superior to the "big step" because since you start in the sitting position, your head is closer to the water than if you are standing up.
So then there is less impact on the face mask and regulator.

Makes sense, although I'd like to believe neither water entry protocol would shorten the life of, or degrade the reliability of such components.
I suspect adjusting the face mask is standard for anyone beginning a dive, regardless of water entry style. *

A childhood associate told me it's less uncomfortable for the diver to land on the tank (breaking the water's surface) than having the tank land on him.

* regulator failure is a dreadful way to drown. Skimp on anything you like. But for SCUBA divers, only dive with an excellent, reliable, properly maintained regulator, or make sure your affairs are in order.

Fine. BUT !
So what?
The "Guess Which One" challenge in #1,438 seems intended to make a broader point
which escapes me.

Apparently the bible was not talking about an animal with a single horn, and not related to a horse either.
The original references were to large, 2 horned, cattle.
So the unicorn we now think of, being a horse with 1 horn, is not mentioned in the bible at all.

Not really funny but where else to put satire .....

BREAKING: New Curriculum Approved for American Schools

Beginning this fall, students will reportedly learn that obedience is the highest civic virtue.

According to the lesson plan, children will be taught that questioning authority creates paperwork, exercising constitutional rights is inconvenient, and compliance should be encouraged regardless of the outcome.

Critics argue the curriculum sends the wrong message about citizenship, accountability, and the relationship between government and the people. Supporters insist that asking fewer questions makes everyone’s job easier.

The course will reportedly replace traditional civics classes, which previously focused on concepts such as individual rights, due process, and the idea that government serves the people—not the other way around.

Satire.

Psychologist Joy Browne PhD used the term "mirrors on mirrors", suggesting reality divergence / dilution.

Thank you R5.
I did not know that. BUT !
In my juniority my perception included: the Holy Bible says ... and therefore ...
In my seniority my perception has shifted to: the Holy Bible says.

I don't entirely dismiss its contents. But it's religion.
I remain mindful of the distinction between religion and God. They are not the same.

No matter where you read it,
Or who has said it,
Not even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense." the Buddha

My problem with ICE is that they are inherently fascist and biased against other nationalities, races, religions, etc.
In my postings, they continually claim only citizens have Bill of Rights protections.
Which is contrary to everything ever written about law, republics, the Founders, etc.

Sovereign nations have the right to defend their own borders, and regulate immigration. BUT !
Biden wobbled.
Trump is making the opposite error.

Trump's campaign promise was he'd deport the worst of the worst.
That's not what's going on here. They're murdering U.S. citizens.
