Thanks Bert.
What you preparing for?
Do you have enough food, water, & fuel supply to outlast whatever adversity you anticipate?
"No such thing as over-kill" NW F #1
I understand how endearing such a slogan can be to gun nuts. It's wrong.
Over-engineering has its appeal. But it's ill-suited to aircraft design, among other things.
If your emergency generator MUST be able to provide 3 kW to power the deep-freezer, the computer, and your communications equipment, that's fine. BUT !
Resist the temptation to use a 10 kW generator for that purpose. Why?
Because the 10 kW generator will consume 3X the fuel a 3 kW generator will.
That means your generator fuel supply will only last 1/3 as long.
& Bert,
avoid catastrophic linchpin shortages.
If your survival scenario includes running the chainsaw, make sure you have obvious replacement parts, a spark-plug for example.
Doesn't make sense for your entire clan to fall over & start smelling real bad, because you didn't have an $8 chainsaw repair part.
