"a true conservative would be supporting strict constitutional interpretations that would limit government.
They would not be supporting things like presidential wars, tariffs, or non-judicial ICE actions." R5 #260
It's a pet peeve.
I've been a law-&-order conservative since high school.

The pseudo-cons pretend to the ennobling appellation "conservative", even though they're rather more the opposite.
The easy "sanity check" for anyone claiming to be a political conservative, ask them what it is they're trying to conserve.
You're almost certain to get an answer.
You're equally certain to not get a straight answer.

So why do they lie?

- to steal without legitimacy the prestige they have not earned, prestige political conservatives have earned through committed conduct faithful to conservative principles.
- One way of lifting ones self up is putting others down. When pseudo-cons falsely claim conservatism, they may gain prestige, esteem of conservatism, but when they're recognized as frauds, some of their shame reflects badly on genuine conservatives, as demonstrated in #255.

"Pet peeve" because if the destructive radical fringe reactionaries were open / honest about it, they know they would remain marginalized also rans.

Trump promised improved consumer prices, and he would not start a War in the Middle East.
Would Trump have won the election if he'd disclosed the truth?

Certainly Trump swindled an electorally decisive naïve segment of the U.S. electorate. BUT !
They're not the only ones harmed.
Trump has plunged the globe into crisis, overwhelmingly because of his arrogant ignorant unilateralism.
And after Trump creates big problems for our former allies / trade partners, Trump endeavors to punish them for not bailing him out.

The U.S. is the laughing stock, EVEN IN IRAN, where they're dancing circles around Trump on U.S. vital / Trump political interests.

"I'm sure everyone has heard about the hantavirus outbreak on that cruise ship." S2 #262
Denied permission to dock, complicating remediation. What's the death toll so far? 3?
They might save a little $cash if they just toss the corpses over the rail.

Trump's "incompetence if OFF THE CHARTS!" #262
Flattery.
Is it incompetence? Or malicious sabotage?

If Trump was primarily motivated by sincere good intentions, he could turn to long-tenured senior Republican leaders for help.
Instead Trump careens forward broadening his swath of Republican destruction in his path.

"There's no "probably" about it. Regardless of what he says he has to weigh at least 300 pounds." S2 #269
- oops -
My apology S2.
There's a boundary that separates jovial levity from ridiculous idiocy.

I try to sustain some cheer, so cyber-time spent here is not merely not wasted, but enjoyed.
It seems my #268 may have distracted from your fundamentally if not alarmingly more important point.

Trump feels threatened by competence.
And why else would that be, other than self-awareness of his own broad-spectrum incompetence.

Kudos Ms. Scott. You're battling a powerful tide madame. We are in your debt.

Thank you S2.

"years"
"Good!" #271
"Good"?
Perhaps.

"Good" if the consequence is to discourage, diminish similar crime.

What will it cost the People to pay room & board for these criminals for the decades involved?

I'd prefer to see 30% of their income / revenue garnished for 20 years, diverted to the injured party.

While what these KKK people did was awful, I hate to think of what 15 and 20 year sentences mean?
It means the loss of family, home, possessions, etc.
It will wipe them from history.
Which seems a bit extreme since it was not technically violent?
It seems to me the length of the sentence is more likely to make them more racists and violent than less.
