Consumer prices jumped 0.9% in March as Iran war sent gas prices soaring

Inflation hit 3.3%, led by a 21.2% increase for gasoline — the largest one-month increase at the pump since 1967.

Today at around 4:20PM I paid around $4.20 / gallon to fill 'er up.
Oddly, there were no matrimonial proposals from swooning stoners. BUT !

Diesel's at $6 / gallon, an increase of a $1 $Dollar a gallon from earlier in Trump's War on Iran.

Not bad enough?
Rev Al asked KamHar if she's running in '28, she's thinking about it.
VP KH, don't.
We need a leader, not another experiment.

What Kamala Harris may be thinking is that Trump is so bad that this time there is no way she could lose.
But I tend to agree with you that since we have never had a female president, we should not take the risk now.

Yes I agree that attacking those fast boats was deliberate murder.
Under any circumstances, you can only kill when necessary in defense, and these boats were not a risk to anyone in any way.

That might be worse than my reason for opposing her.
Trump ought not be running again, the Constitution prohibits it. BUT !
Trump ought not have run in 2024, the Constitution prohibits it.

Ironically, Secretary Clinton was more respected by those that worked with her than the general electorate.

Of the U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), former Speaker Newton Gingrich (R-GA) said: "She's serious, she's hard working, she is a first rate professional."

Supplementing that, (then) current RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman said: "Senator Clinton is smart, uh, she's effective, uh ... very hard working."

Forget Hillary.
Perhaps Dr. Susan Rice, or some other higher caliber workhorse.

A U.S. government $paycheck is a license to kill.
Trump should wear striped pants.

The reason I did not like Hillary is that Obama had run on a no-war platform, but then after elected, increased the war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Syria, etc.
It seemed Hillary was at fault, since she seemed to be the one pushing the whole "Arab Spring" thing?

iirc Senator Clinton voted with the Bushies in favor of waging War on Iraq.

I never believed GWB's casus belli against Saddam, with the brief & feeble exception of Secretary Powell's presentation to the U.N. General Assembly.
Even then my reason was not plausibility of Powell's presentation, but what I had considered Powell's impeccable integrity.
Even if so, that's one undeniable exception.

And I'm an outsider.
Hillary was an insider, and should have known better.

Turns out that Vance is just as popular in Hungary as he is in Greenland

Viktor Orbán passed a law labeling gay people as pedophiles. He banned Budapest Pride and made it a criminal offense to attend with €500 fines organizers facing prison time. And when people showed up anyway, he let police use facial recognition to hunt them down at the parade.

This week J.D. Vance flew to Hungary to campaign for him. He stood next to him on camera and called him "a role model for the continent."

Then he looked right into the cameras and said: "I'm here to help."

J.D. Vance flew across the ocean for a man who legally erased trans and nonbinary people from his country's own constitution. Who froze €17 billion in EU funds over corruption violations. Who spent 16 years packing courts, strangling the press, and gerrymandering maps to keep himself in power.

Putin's closest ally inside the European Union. And the person JD Vance couldn't wait to get a photo with.

Millions of Hungarians stood in lines for hours to say they've had enough.

Sixteen years. And it may finally be over

It is over - Orban lost big time

And we can thank President Trump for sending VP JD to seal the deal ?

Best wishes to the voters that trew da bum out.

Meanwhile JD is building for himself a foreign policy track-record, one substantial failure after another, both Iran and Hungary in one month.

"Just in case you didn't know that the GOP is owned by Putin" S2 #187
Who can plausibly deny Putin's influence?

Under Hungary's former PM Viktor Orbán's regime "the Hungarian government has
been bankrolling the Conservative Political Action Conference [CPAC] for years." S2 #187
In an apparent alarming double-standard, if Orbán had provided the same assistance to the Democrats, the Republicans would have publicly expressed outrage.

But for Republicans it's not whether such foreign involvement is unethical.
Instead for Republicans it's a matter of whether such unethical foreign involvement benefits the Republican party or not.

A politician is a man who thinks of the next election; while the statesman thinks of the next generation. -James Freeman Clarke, preacher and author (1810-1888)
What a tragedy there are few if any statemen populating the U.S. GOP during this Trump administration.

Texas just lost 2,000 farms in 2025. Crops are rotting in the fields. Farmers are going bankrupt. And the labor force that kept your grocery store stocked has been deported or scared into hiding by ICE raids.

But wait — I thought we were told immigrants were "taking American jobs"?? So where are all the Americans rushing to pick vegetables in 100° South Texas heat for $12/hour?
👀
Crickets. Out of 415,000+ farm job openings advertised last year, you know how many got a domestic applicant? 182. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY TWO. For four hundred and fifteen thousand jobs.

And before someone slides into my comments — yes, I'm also looking at YOU, the 59 South African farmers Trump fast-tracked into this country on "refugee" status.
🇿🇦
Funny how they came here fleeing farm seizures... but I don't see any of them out in Hidalgo County saving America's lettuce supply. Weren't they literally FARMERS?? The fields are RIGHT THERE.

The jobs weren't taken. The workers were. And now we're paying for it at the grocery store.

"Not just at the grocery store - those farmers who went bankrupt are paying with their livelihood" S2 #191
And as the land they farmed goes fallow / non-productive, the 100% whole is reduced.
The result, the population continues to increase as the food supply diminishes.
Such divergences when minor can cause food inflation, "supply and demand".
But as the ratio of food to mouths diminishes further, famine can occur.

Bottom line: Trump is a xenophobic buffoon.
