For my Canadian friends

Prime Minister Carney launches new Major Projects Office to fast-track nation-building projects

In a rapidly shifting global landscape, we need to act decisively to build a stronger, more competitive, and prosperous economy. To those ends, the government tabled the Building Canada Act, which Parliament passed this June. This legislation enables the government to streamline federal approval processes to get major projects built faster. These projects – including ports, railways, energy corridors, critical mineral developments, and clean energy initiatives – will better connect our economy, diversify our industries, access new markets, and create high-paying careers, while protecting Canada’s rigorous environmental standards and upholding the rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, launched the new Major Projects Office (MPO). The MPO is headquartered in Calgary and will have offices in other major Canadian cities. Its mandate is to serve as a single point of contact to get nation-building projects built faster. It will do so in two principal ways. First, by streamlining and accelerating regulatory approval processes. Second, by helping to structure and co-ordinate financing of these projects as needed.

The MPO will help to identify projects that are in Canada’s national interest and will help fast-track their development. The MPO will accelerate projects by creating ......

Danielle Smith is ‘The Book Thief’.

When government decides ‘you’ are not capable of making decisions, ‘you’ are NOT enough smart to take the right message from literature!

In a democracy we elect leaders NOT Parents!

This is oppression! What’s next? Book burnings in the town square?

Wake up call Alberta… what rights will they go after next?

Watch the damn movie! Before she bans that too!

Recent Book Removal Policy; What Is Actually Going On in Alberta?

Danielle Smith’s government is dressing censorship up as “protecting children,” but the truth is this: Alberta is seeing government overreach that targets marginalized groups, silences free expression, and undermines our multicultural democracy.

Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides admitted in emails that he met with lobby groups like Parents for Choice in Education (PCE) and “other concerned parents,” while refusing to clarify meetings with Action4Canada—an extremist Christian nationalist group that has led campaigns across Canada to strip schools and public libraries of 2SLGBTQ+ and sex education materials. Both PCE and Action4Canada are well-funded organizations with deep ties to Alberta’s conservative movement. PCE’s executive director was a founding member of the Wildrose Party, and Danielle Smith herself appeared at their education forum during her 2022 leadership campaign. This isn’t about grassroots parents voicing concern. It’s about entrenched political networks dictating what children can read.

The government’s list of “sexually explicit” books—heavily borrowed from Action4Canada’s own 36-page blacklist—targets works like ....

Perhaps the syntax police will overlook the following quotation. "enough smart"?

Some common sense, even if less than common among politicians, can straddle an international border or two.

"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves, and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion." Thomas Jefferson

Ostensible book banners are champions of ignorance. They masquerade their position as opposing the reading of the book/s they endeavor to ban. BUT !
On what basis?
Have they read each book they wish to ban? If so, how do they explain their own survival of the ostensible dangerous literary adversity?

The danger they perceive is so perilous the People benefit from having the decision made for them?
If the book banner read the book & survived, is their position not nonsensical?
If the book banner did not read the book, on what basis to ban in ignorance?
Neither of these conditions makes sense.

SUMMARY

In his own words - from Poilievres essay on politics:

Finally, I would make a personal commitment.
I would resign after serving my second term in office. The beauty of genuine democracy is that it permits average citizens to serve their country in public office. Politics should not be a lifelong career, and elected officials should not be allowed to fix themselves in the halls of power of a nation. If they are permitted to do so, politicians will devote their time to finding ways to perpetuate their own power, as opposed to

Therefore, I would institute a limit of two terms for members of Parliament, and return the House of Commons to tax-paying citizens.

Ottawa Faces $8–10 Billion Shortfall After Carbon Tax Removal -

We know that the federal fuel charge component was generating approximately 8-10 billion/year, just from past fiscal data and estimates. British Columbia estimates it's revenue will fall by 1.99 billion in the coming fiscal year due to cancelling the tax & credit. Poilievre’s reckless crusade against the carbon tax has blown a massive hole in Canada’s finances. By tearing down a system that forced the biggest fuel users and industrial polluters to pay their fair share, he’s handed billions back to the large corporations while leaving ordinary Canadians to clean up the mess.

That lost revenue has to be replaced. Hospitals, schools, pensions, and infrastructure don’t fund themselves. And now, because Poilievre ripped away a stable source of income, the government has no choice but to either raise personal income taxes or cut spending. Instead of large corporations carrying the cost, it’s families, workers, and seniors who will be stuck with higher bills.

Letter to the U.S. Ambassador to Canada

By Steve Ward
🇨🇦

Dear Mr. Hoekstra,

I am writing in reponse to your recent media interview, during which you expressed disappointment and surprise about the degree of anti-American sentiment you have witnessed or heard about since arriving in our country.

You see, Mr. Ambassador, Canadians are generally a friendly lot. We always help our allies -- as evidenced by our participation on the side of freedom during World Wars I and II, our leadership in various peace-keeping missions over the decades, our unfailing support during the Cold War, our security partnership in NATO and NORAD, and looking after the American crew and passengers on aircraft grounded by a no-fly order in Gander, Newfoundland on September 11 2001. More recently, we have been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine and we sent firefighters to California last year.

In his May 1961 address to Canada's Parliament, President John F. Kennedy referred to our unique relationship as follows: "Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies." Similarly, when President Ronald Reagan addressed Canada's Parliament in March 1981 he commented warmly that while "America counts many friends across the globe, surely we have no better friend than Canada".

Mr. Ambassador, I wonder what these two great men, one a Democrat and the other a Republican, would think if they had witnessed the state of America and the world since mid-January? We don't need a seance to confirm that they ....

Time to fact-check Pierre Poilievre. Now that he’s back in a safe Conservative riding, Poilievre is Rage farming, fear mongering and manipulating with disinformation/misinformation to his supporters who refuse to fact-check his lies. The (TFW) program is not taking jobs from Canadians amid rising unemployment. Our rising unemployment is largely the result of President Trump’s tariffs on a raft of Canadian imports, according to statistics Canada. Temporary foreign worker approvals are declining year after year.

Article by the Toronto Star

As Canada’s unemployment rate ticks upward, politicians and social media rhetoric have increasingly pointed to the temporary foreign worker program as the culprit. But government data and immigration experts say that narrative distorts the facts, fuelling a heated debate over the real role migrant labour plays in Canada’s economy.

The debate, further ignited after Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre claimed the program has ballooned out of control and should be banned, comes at a critical moment. A recent poll suggested that ...

For those who think Pierre Poilievre would make a better PM, along with his conservative party members.

This is just one example of what would have occurred if he had been the one to face/deal with Trump and his demands as Canada's PM.

The president of the U.S. who wants Canada to become the next 51st State.

That Alberta wants the promise and money for oil pipelines, but at the same time are looking to find ways to hold a referendum to separate from Canada and join the U.S. and who the U.S. Has offered to pay over $500 million to help make it happen.

Remember this actual live audio of Danielle Smith saying:

Audio of Danielle Smith interview on Breitbart during Canada's last federal election. Refresh your memories by listening to her own words, once again.

Now knowing all this, and now knowing what Trumo thinks and wants from Canada and their "Ambassador to Canada" recently and the continued ongoing inflammatory things he is still saying.

Canadian's should be able to easily understand what would have actually occurred if Pierre was the PM versus Carney.

Never forget this and don't be so readily to believe their misinformation/lies on the parliamentary floor.

Every week Pierre Poilievre repeats the same playbook: fearmongering, scapegoating, and distortion. And every week, CBC reporters and analysts help cut through the noise with facts.

Here’s what Poilievre pushed this last week-- and what the data actually says:

AND THE FACTS>

1758819943994.png

The Conspiracy Party of Canada under leader Pierresite has stated its intention to reverse and cancel key Liberal gun laws, calling them a "wasteful gun grab" that penalizes law-abiding owners instead of criminals.

Bill C-21: The Conspiracy Party of Canada have vowed to repeal elements of Bill C-21, which codified a national freeze on handguns and prohibited new designs of certain semi-automatic, center-fire firearms.

Assault-style firearms bans: They oppose the Liberal government's bans on "assault-style" firearms implemented in 2020, 2024, and 2025, and have promised to reverse them. The Conspirators argue that these bans unfairly target hunters and sport shooters.

This is taken from the same populist playbook being used by the Republicans.

Republicans today believe it is a violation of the Constitution to regulate firearms for safety.

New flash: it is not.

Although their stance holds no water — just read Scalia's majority opinion in Heller to see that ....

I do wish people would stop using American terms - the Prime Minister's wife is not the "First Lady" - she has no official title but she's a very accomplished woman in her own right and referring to her that way actually diminishes her accomplishments. That said:
