Just another attempt to sway the vote against Dr. Abdul El-Sayed by badmouthing Arabs.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. went to Michigan, home to the highest share of Arab Americans in the nation, and told a crowd that 500 million Arabs "don't produce science," don't win the Nobel Prize, and "don't produce literature."
It is hard to know where to begin with something so false and so ugly.
Arabs have won the Nobel Prize in chemistry, in literature, and in peace. They have won the Wolf Prize. The words algebra and algorithm come to us from Arabic. Our mathematics, our astronomy, our medicine, our very understanding of light carry the fingerprints of Arab science.
RFK, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, himself has no medical degree. He said it to attack Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a physician, a Rhodes Scholar, and a public health leader. It is part of a coordinated effort to paint Arab and Muslim Americans as suspect, as lesser, as other. We know where that road leads, and we are not going down it.
America is strongest when we honor the full dignity and the full contribution of every community. We are better than this. And we will prove it by calling this out loudly, and standing together against it.
