FBI Mark Felt, pseudonym "deep throat" reportedly told WaPo's Woodward & Bernstein investigating Nixon's Watergate scandal: "Follow the money."

Many spectator sports fans may perceive the NFL as a locus of their own entertainment. But the NFL is a profit-making organization.
Some teams trick government into helping to pay for the team's home stadium.
But it's the team owner that rakes in the $cash. There's more to NFL revenue than stadium ticket sales. What can a ticket-holder expect to pay for a frankfurter, and a few beers? $50 ? $more ?

The Taylor Swift angle may help broaden the appeal.

Who knows? In years past, "deflate gate", among other controversies.

Will there be an upset victory?
Will SB LVIII be a nail-biter, winner determined with less than 30 seconds left in the game?

The social angle? The U.S. is bitterly divided, in part along partisan lines. Teams & fans from San Francisco and Kansas City may be rivals. But without the rancor found in congress?

Expecting much from the super bowl commercials this year? Or the half-time show? Usher !

The NFL is more than just an excuse for DWI. Certainly beer can be purchased at the stadium. But there are sports bars thick with fans there to celebrate the once a year event.

This source:
says the minimum an NFL player makes is $3/4 $Million. That's more than some Americans earn in a lifetime.

If the team owners can afford that, imagine how $much the team owners have left over.

The Kansas City quarterback is entertaining. The gambling sites have it covered, right down to what color Taylor is wearing.

"Not going to a party - the only reason to watch the Super Bowl is the commercials." #2
Until COVID my habit was I'd go to a party if I did NOT care much about the game.
But when I care about the game, I've deliberately avoided the crowd (the distractions).
"The Kansas City quarterback is entertaining." #3
Most of these guys, even the 300 pounders qualify as athletes.
A few of them qualify as entertainers. In this game both QBs are young, though 49ers Brock Purdy's team is slight favorite (2 points?).
Let's hope the game is more entertaining than the half-time show, [S2 #2] as the commercials have been in the past.

Do you suppose Janet Jackson will flop one out, for nostalgia?

Taylor Kelce. It has a "ring" to it?
Doesn't take much imagination to figure which position she plays.

A man of his word??

When?
How?
If you do so on-air it might boost your ratings, briefly.

#8 is an amusing graphic. But the implication is Carlson was while broadcasting on the FOX network, commenting about last night's super bowl. Unlikely.

Tucker Carlson Tonight aired on Fox News from November 14, 2016, to April 21, 2023.
During its run, the show garnered significant attention amid several controversies. In July 2020, Tucker Carlson Tonight became the highest-rated primetime program across all of cable news; its dominance in the time slot ended only after the program's abrupt cancellation.
On April 24, 2023, Fox News announced that Tucker Carlson had departed the network.

This year's Super Bowl was watched by an average of 123.4 million people in the US, making it the most watched broadcast since the 1969 Moon landing.

Preliminary US TV ratings put Sunday's game just behind Apollo 11's historic landing, which was seen by an estimated 125 to 150 million people.
Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime.
Taylor Swift's highly anticipated attendance to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce may have boosted the figures.

Some sport events are snoozers. A super bowl going into O.T. is rare. And an underdog win also uncommon.
Self-made $Billionaire Taylor Swift and beaux super bowl champion Travis Kelce add storybook charm.

What do you suppose cavemen watched on TV on Sunday evening?

How Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Took Over the NFL, By the Numbers (Kinda)

We take an extremely unscientific look at the couple's ineffable cultural dominance over the last five months
BY JON BLISTEIN

The NFL couldn’t have scripted it any better if they’d tried — not that we’re suggesting they did. But after several tumultuous years marked by press cycles centered around racism, police brutality, protests, sexual assault, domestic violence, shaky ratings, culture war shenanigans, and the little fact that the very game itself is destroying the brains of all those who play it, the National Football League enjoyed a 2023-2024 season where the main storyline seemed to be its mere proximity to Taylor Swift, vis-a-vis her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

Even before the couple went public last fall, Swift was in the midst of an all-consuming media glut not seen since the days of 1989, Kim and Kanye, and Reputation. Add the superstar tight end from the reigning Super Bowl champs to a cultural stew that already included Midnights, “Anti-Hero,” the Eras Tour, the end of a six-year relationship, and a summer of amateur pap shots at Casa Cipriani with an alt-rocker infamous for not knowing when to shut up, and you get the kind of cosmic gumbo that could bring tears of joy to ...

"Swift ... Numbers" #13

a) Indeed.
b) How many times can an onion be peeled?

It's publicity-charged entertainment synergistically promoting publicity-charged entertainment, an economic yin-yang. Books could be written ...

The maelstrom in DC & around the globe may augment viewers desire for refuge.
This post-industrial debauchery is but one byproduct of our contemporary $economy.
Millions go to bed hungry, if they're fortunate enough to have a bed. Tens of millions enjoy such entertainment, either live, or in the 1080HD comfort & convenience of their centrally heated, fully plumbed home. ("fully plumbed" means including mr. hungry, & a bar of soap)

Congratulations to all of the players of the NFL for providing relief from the manifold woes of the 3rd millennium.

Cross of Saint Peter

Religious symbol

The Cross of Saint Peter, also known as the Petrine Cross, is an inverted Latin cross traditionally used as a Christian symbol, but in recent times, it has also been used as an anti-Christian and Satanic symbol. In Christianity, it is associated with the martyrdom of Peter the Apostle. The symbol originates from the Catholic tradition that when sentenced to death, Peter requested that his cross be upside down, as he felt unworthy of being crucified in the same manner as Jesus.-

Sour grapes?
Envy, one of the 7 deadly sins. BUT !
Masquerade ones own envy as scorn, the moral superiority of indignation & harsh judgement, and thus assuage, ennoble that envy.

note:
It seems Taylor Swift has overtaken this topic, much as she has the super bowl itself.
This AM NPR 1A featured an hour long broadcast about the pollution of private jets, using such terms as "polluter elite", "climate justice", and "Carbon inequality"

Though there were reportedly hundreds of private jets flown to Las Vegas for SB LVIII Swift was the only celeb. named.

Thank gosh I don't have a posse. Anonymity is an invaluable luxury.

Biden trolls Swift-Kelce ‘psyop’ believers after Chiefs Super Bowl win—as Trump pleads with duo to endorse him instead

Trump supporters think he's admitting it.

President Joe Biden mocked conspiracy theorists in a post to social media on Sunday following the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers.

In the weeks leading up to the game, supporters of former President Donald Trump began claiming that the Biden administration would rig the results to help secure him a second presidential term.

The conspiracy theory alleged, among other things, that the Pentagon had manufactured a relationship between pop superstar Taylor Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Swift, according to the theory, would use the Chiefs’ win to endorse Biden and thus tip the scales in the 2024 presidential election.

"President Joe Biden mocked conspiracy theorists in a post to social media on Sunday" #18

I did not know Joe posted to social media. I don't recall ever reading a quotation. Either way, it seems Biden has quite a bit of catching up to do.
Let's hope Biden's plan-A is not a Trump implosion.

note:
I've not found any respected authority on Constitutional law assert it would be illegal for Trump to preside from a prison cell, 14th Amendment not withstanding.
