Rosa #941

After Lee's surrender to Grant at Appomattox April 9, 1865 both Confederate and Union troops rode trains to return to their homes. But due to the persistent racism of the day, victorious Negro Union troops were required to ride in the back of the train, while defeated White Confederate troops rode in front. Escaped slave / abolitionist /journalist / influential lecturer Frederick Douglass responded:

"We Negroes love our country. We fought for it. We ask only that we be treated as well as those that fought against it." Fredric Douglass

This doesn't include many of his other statements. For example

He also said men need to lynch trans people on the streets like they did in the 50s and 60s.

And the BIG one where he hates Martin Luther King Jr and wants the civil rights movement taken back.

He invoked the term “midterm hero” in reference to the hammer attack home invasion of the Pelosi residence. He wasn’t a free speech debater, he was an inciting for the crowded theatre to be sealed and mortared.

FBI Readies New War on Trans People

“We’re looking at the entire spider web”

Ken Klippenstein

The Trump administration is preparing to designate transgender people as “violent extremists” in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder, two national security officials tell me.

“We're looking at the entire spider web for any of these attacks,” FBI director Kash Patel told the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, when asked about shootings by trans individuals.

“They,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said after the Kirk murder, are “putting this crazy ideology in our schools,” echoing the growing view of many in Trump’s inner circle that a “cult of gender ideology” is behind an explosion of violence by some as yet unidentified “radical left.”

Two days before Kirk was killed, Donald Trump condemned “transgender insanity.” Then in an interview about the shooting, he blamed “the radicals on the left,” saying: “they want transgender for everyone.”

“They are cynically targeting trans people because the shooter’s lover was trans,” one senior intelligence official tells me. “The administration has convinced itself that .....

California HS girls' volleyball team with trans athlete sees 8th forfeit amid growing controversy

Three current and former teammates have filed lawsuit against school district over locker room sharing

By Jackson Thompson Fox News / Published September 24, 2025 6:09pm EDT

At least eight high school volleyball teams in California have forfeited to a team with a well-known transgender athlete.
The Jurupa Unified School District (JUSD) confirmed that Patriot High School has forfeited its Sept. 26 match to Jurupa Valley High School, which rosters transgender athlete AB Hernandez. Both Patriot and Jurupa Valley are within the same school district, the Jurupa Unified School District (JUSD).
"We can confirm the Patriot High School volleyball team will forfeit their September 26 match," JUSD said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Three of Hernandez's current and former volleyball teammates have filed a lawsuit against the Jurupa Unified School District (JUSD), the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and the California Department of Education (CDE) over their experience sharing a team and locker room with the transgender athlete.
The two current teammates in the lawsuit, seniors Alyssa McPherson and Hadeel Hazameh, previously told Fox News Digital they were stepping away from the team as long as the transgender athlete is participating. The third plaintiff is McPherson's older sister Madison, who graduated last year.
"Plaintiffs have been intimidated by an intentionally hostile environment created by Defendants wherein they were bullied by school officials to censor their objections to competing with, and against, a male and to sharing intimate and private spaces with a male," the lawsuit reads.

We can easily understand why both parties in this contest would wish to resolve this issue, establish a precedent in their own favor.
But the volatile reactionary radical MAGA administration presents a litigation climate not well suited to expanding civil rights.
Is finality more important than victory?

"Why doesn't the straight pride flag look all that heterosexual?" #957
"The" spf?
There's only one?
Count me a skeptic.
- Who designed the flag in meme #957?
- In what year?
- For what reason?
The meme may be half right, that particular flag may not ooze virility, even when gloomily displayed by two middle-aged bald men.
As is often the case, being half-right means being all wrong.

Do heteros need a flag? For fellowship we can indulge it. But "straight" has been the overwhelming prevailing environment since Bruce patented dirt.

Is the per capita contributions of minorities approximately proportional to their % population?

Kudos to all our resourceful innovators, INCLUDING those that transcend narrow-minded limits.
