Trump’s new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia keeps first briefing short

Zacharia, a conservative commentator, stuck close to prepared remarks in her first outing at the podium. She called on three reporters, all from conservative outlets.

The senators say Congress explicitly banned Russian energy imports in 2022.

The problem I have is that it is inherently illegal to impose economic sanctions at all.
Individual rights are supposed to be supreme and prohibit interference in civilian commerce.
So when congress passed the economic embargo, they were guilty of war crimes under the 1906 Geneva Conventions that the US ratified into US law.

Seems that "Idiocracy" isn't just a movie.

ANTI-VAX ACTIVISTS TARGET DOCTORS AFTER TWO UNVACCINATED CHILDREN DIE FROM MEASLES IN TEXAS.

Two unvaccinated girls, aged six and eight, died during the 2025 measles outbreak in West Texas. Now, anti-vaccine group Children’s Health Defense is questioning the medical treatment the children received.

The group alleges that the use of antibiotics contributed to their deaths, but these claims have not been established as medical malpractice. Antibiotics do not treat the measles virus itself, but doctors may use them to treat bacterial infections that develop alongside the disease.

Texas health officials identified the deaths as measles-related. Medical experts warn that measles can cause serious complications, including pneumonia, brain inflammation, and weakened immune protection.

The 2025 Texas outbreak recorded 762 confirmed cases and led to hospitalizations. Health officials continue to emphasize vaccination as the best protection against measles.

Two doses of the MMR vaccine are about 97% effective at preventing measles.

This does not seem plausible to me.
ANY adult that wishes to not be vaccinated has choices to make.

RFKj's delusions can be excused as "eccentricities".
Our system has multiple safeguards to prevent such "eccentrics" from making national policy.
The Republican party has managed to circumvent / defeat each, every one of those safeguards.
Americans are dying as a result.

The next vote is next month.

Tell that to Congress. And the Supreme Court. It's a given that they don't agree with you.

Since congress and the SCOTUS had no problem with slavery, segregation, Prohibition, the War on Drugs, 3 million murdered in Vietnam, etc., they are pretty much hopeless.
But one would think the people would rise up against violations of rights like this?

Except that it is the Ukraine that started the war by violating the Budapest Memorandum by trying to put NATO nukes on Russia's border.
And it is illegal to prevent any US citizen from purchasing oil or diesel from Russia.

“Nobody knew that healthcare could be so complicated.” President Trump

"... it is the Ukraine that started the war by violating the Budapest Memorandum by trying to put NATO nukes on Russia's border." R5 #4,150
This assertion bears unmistakable appearance of a post hoc ergo propter hoc assertion.
That's not about the Budapest Memorandum.
In all the years of this War, I have not seen any report wherein Putin / Russia attributes Ukrainian aggression to the Budapest Memorandum.

To the contrary, reports of the time were unanimous in reporting Russian military troops massing on Ukraine's border, preparatory to Russia's invasion.

Reportedly the law against it was signed into law years ago.

"True - but they're not necessarily going to be able to make intelligent choices if they're fed a constant stream of misinformation by likes of RFK Jr." S2 #4,153
In computer code parlance the expression was: GIGO - garbage in, garbage out

In sorting through the disinformation churn during the Secretary RFKj era, it's not GIGO, it's Guy Die. 🪦 🦇

Here is what Britanica says about the causes of the war in the Ukraine:

Why did Vladimir Putin invade Ukraine in 2022?

The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica
Vladimir Putin’s invasion followed years of tension between Russia and Ukraine as Ukraine moved toward closer ties with the West, which Putin viewed as a threat to Russia’s influence. Between October and November 2021, he amassed troops and military equipment along Russia’s border with Ukraine and made various demands that were rejected, including de facto veto power over NATO expansion. On February 21, 2022, Putin recognized the independence of the separatist regions of Donetsk and Luhansk and ordered Russian troops into Ukrainian territory as “peacekeepers,” and on February 24 he launched a full-scale invasion that he called a “special military operation.”

Putin’s stated reasons for the invasion included the false claim that Ukraine was committing genocide against Russian speakers in the Donbas. Putin’s reasons were widely discredited internationally, and his invasion was instead seen as an attempt to reassert Russian influence over Ukraine and prevent its further integration with the European Union and NATO.

While I disagree with Britannica about the murders of ethnic Russians by the Azov Battalion, I agree it was mainly about the Ukraine trying to join "Alliances Hostile to Russia", which was prohibited by the Budapest Memorandum.
If the Ukraine had joined NATO as they constantly tried to do, that would mean the US would put nukes on Russia's border that Russia could no longer respond to in time.

As for the oil embargo on Russia, if someone made a living doing that, then this would illegally destroy his liberty and pursuit of happiness.
Not to mention that blockage of civilian commerce was made a war crime by the 1906 Geneva Conventions, which Congress had ratified into US law.
What I am claiming is not just that congress has no authority to interfere with civilian commerce in any way, but that congress actually committed a war crime that should get them all imprisoned.

Of course Congress is not going to be imprisoned over this, but legally they should.
And it destroys the whole credibility of the entire US.
We are supposed to be republic founded on inherent individual rights, so then this bias is no better than slavery.
