You seem to have in mind a specific legal prohibition. None comes to my mind, other than the obvious standards of good taste
which obviously don't apply to the Trump administration.

- piffle -
Government can do all sorts of things the rest of us can't.
Police cars can exceed posted speed limits, run red lights, etc.
Government can incarcerate. We can't.
Government can tax. Don't even think about it.

It would be nice to live in a world where there were no bad guys worthy of 25 to life sentences, or worse. BUT ! ...
The specific law is

No person under the age of 18 shall witness a United States military execution, according to the U.S. Army Regulations on Procedures for Military Executions (AR 190-55)

"Police cars should never conduct high speed chases legally." R5 #440
Probably not through school zones, crowded residential neighborhoods. BUT !

Quite a stretch between what I posted, & your reply.

The sanity check, a policeman racing to rescue a wheelchair bound widow from her burning home, before she suffers terminal immolation.

"The fact individuals do not do things, like incarceration, is not because they legally can't, but because it protects the rights of all better if we refrain and let government do it in a more regulated fashion." R5 #440

Looks like a steaming waffle to me.

Oh.
I did not know that.
Shielding minors from it makes sense. NOT shielding majors?! 😲

Reportedly there's already enough blowback against it, Hegseth may be overruled on the broadcast (but not the execution?).

" - kids will watch it." S2 #443
If they can.
And some may, without intending to.
iirc there was a porn site called WhiteHouse.com
and kids doing research looking for the WhiteHouse.gov site got more (less?) than they bargained for.

I suspect any 12 year old that watches 5 hours of broadcast TV per week has already seen simulated homicide.
Children that have seen "Westerns" (cowboys & indians) have seen people shot & killed.

I'm not doctor enough to know if there's a significant difference for children that know it's an actual execution, and not mere S.A.G. antics.
