Trump exhibits such pronounced narcissistic tendencies that he is unable to accept, on any level, the removal of his name from the Kennedy Center, an institution established to honor President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Fundamentally, he lacks a sense of self and attempts to take credit for the accomplishments of former presidents in order to assuage his fragile ego.

Trump just told a federal judge that if the court won't let him bolt his name to the Kennedy Center the whole building gets DEMOLISHED — That is not a renovation plan. That is a hostage note.

Justice Department attorney Brantley T. Mayers filed that argument Monday before U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, writing that without the closure the building "will deteriorate further into an unsafe, decrepit structure that will be required to be taken down."

Mayers then floated what could replace the memorial Congress created for John F. Kennedy: "a large outdoor amphitheater overlooking the Potomac River."

The filing says an amphitheater would "fail to adequately honor" Kennedy, but says it "would be simpler and more economical to build, operate, and maintain."

Government lawyers also called the Kennedy Center "structurally unsound, fundamentally unsafe, and embarrassing to the Nation's Capital."

That is the administration's characterization of a building it wants control over.

Back in March, the court ordered the government to hand over documents on the "one year review" Trump claimed he had conducted, and to state in writing if no such documents existed.

The same filing praises Trump's "unrivaled expertise and experience in real estate and construction" and says he is "uniquely qualified" for the job.

It was written in opposition to Rep. Joyce Beatty, the Ohio Democrat who sits on the board as a trustee and asked the court to stop all of it. "Even Beatty should prefer a healthy, restored Center to a decaying hulk that is doomed to inevitable destruction or collapse," Mayers wrote.

On Aug. 13, the Trump-aligned board voted to put "Restored and Renovated By President Donald J. Trump" on the facade and rename the plaza after him. If the Trump Kennedy Center Fund hits $100 million, more of his name gets added.

Cooper already ruled in May that Congress gave the Center its name and only Congress can change it.

JD Vance says Canada would be vulnerable to invasion without the protection of the United States.
But that argument lands strangely when the loudest recent threats to Canada’s sovereignty have come from south of its own border.
The idea that Canada survives only because it sits under America’s security umbrella ignores a bigger reality: Canada is a sovereign NATO member with its own military, alliances, resources, and decades of defense cooperation with the United States.
That is why the rhetoric feels so contradictory.
You cannot repeatedly talk about Canada as if it should be absorbed, pressured, or forced into submission, then turn around and claim America is the only thing keeping Canada safe from foreign aggression.
Safe from whom?
For many Canadians, that is the question.
Security partnerships are supposed to be built on trust, mutual respect, and shared interests.
They become much harder to take seriously when the country offering “protection” is also the one making the most provocative threats.

WELL, WELL, WELL: The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is reportedly peeling apart again, with chunks of sealant visibly coming loose
Remember how this started?
Trump allies claimed vandals had damaged the newly renovated Reflecting Pool and prosecutors even brought charges against people accused of causing it.
Then the story collapsed.
Officials ultimately acknowledged that the damage was tied to flawed installation by contractors, not protesters deliberately destroying the pool.
The charges were dropped.
Now fresh footage appears to show the sealant coming up in chunks once again.
No protesters required.
That makes the original rush to blame political enemies look even more ridiculous.
The Reflecting Pool underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, yet the surface began peeling almost immediately.
And instead of first asking whether something had gone wrong with the work itself, people were accused of vandalism.
Now the pool appears to be doing the same thing all over again.
Turns out concrete and sealant do not care about political narratives.
Sometimes a bad installation is just a bad installation.
So no, it apparently wasn’t Antifa.
The pool is perfectly capable of falling apart all by itself.
