Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) offers benefits and risks.
Though we are at the dawn of this new technology, it is already affecting human experience.
A.I. is produced by powerful, resource-guzzling computer complexes.
Simply locating such infrastructure in a region has consequences for that region, including:
- increased fresh water consumption
- increased commercial electric power cost.
Beyond that specific region, there are global affects.
Fundamental computer components such as mechanical hard drives, and Silicon computer chip costs are increasing substantially, the inevitable consequence of "supply & demand" market forces.

We're automating such tasks as driving a car, with imperfect results so far.
But innovations continue, with prospect of benefit and peril attending.

Will A.I. lower the cost of the next toaster-oven you buy?
Are there breakthroughs in the future of A.I. that will revolutionize our modern human experience?

After the problems with driverless cars are resolved, what's next?

If machines do all the work, how will humans get their $paychecks?

"270 prominent scientists say within 40 years robots will be doing most of the jobs we do not want to do. Especially illegal robots from Mexico." Jay Leno

Fascinating topic s #1, BUT !

Post #1 considers the private sector, industry.
Is there a public sector, a government angle to be considered?

tech·noc·ra·cy (tĕk-nŏkrə-sē)
n. pl. tech·noc·ra·cies
A government or social system controlled by technicians, especially scientists and technical experts.
[Greek tekhnē, skill; see TECHNICAL + -CRACY.]

As AHD indicates, we've already imagined governance less about a partisan agenda,
instead driven by regulatory maintenance,
not intended to build suburbs on the moon, but to keep public school curricula up-to-date,
keep our bridges from collapsing, and
our economy and People prospering.

Good idea?
"The Devil's in the details."
If Washington DC is rendered obsolete by an A.I. megaplex, what would become of the Constitution? Of congress?
Of the capitol and the capital ?

If we don't find answers to these questions before the special interests are entrenched & empowered,
the answers will find U.S.
