A Catholic wedding involving two individuals who publicly identify as transgender has triggered a canonical investigation in Argentina, with the Archbishop of Corrientes stating the union is null and will be annulled by decree.

Archbishop declares transgender marriage null

Thing is, this is a marriage between a transman and a transwoman so, if you believe that a transman is really a woman and a transwoman is really a man, it's still a heterosexual marriage.

The European Parliament has passed a resolution that declares that trans women are women.

The resolution was passed on 11 February ahead of the upcoming 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, an global intergovernmental body dedicated to the promotion of gender equality. The convention is due to take place in New York in March.

The council devised a list of recommendations concerning EU priorities to take to the session, which included: “emphasize the importance of the full recognition of trans women as women, noting that their inclusion is essential for the effectiveness of any gender-equality and anti-violence policies; call for recognition of and equal access for trans women to protection and support services.”

The list of recommendations also mentioned the wider LGBTQ+ community several times, and included the need to secure “sustainable funding and legal protection for feminist and LGBTIQ+ organisations”, ensure “access to gender-sensitive mental health services for young women and LGBTIQ+ people”, and prioritise “foreign, development and security policy, which is inclusive and intersectional, prioritising the needs of women and LGBTIQ+ human rights defenders”.

The Tennessee House passed a bill on 19 February that would allow private citizens and organisations to refuse to recognise same-sex marriages as legitimate.

HB1473, which was written by Republican Representative Gino Bulso and refers to LGBTQ+ marriages as “purported marriages”, received overwhelming support from Bulso’s Republican Tennessee peers, passing 68-24.

Democrats on the House floor argued that the new bill goes against Obergefell v. Hodges. In response, Bulso said: “It was the U.S. Supreme Court on June the 26th of 2015 that overstepped its bounds and invented this right to marriage of individuals of the same sex, despite there being no support whatsoever in the language of the 14th Amendment for that proposition.”

He insisted that the new bill was only meant to “clarify” the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution and the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling on public versus private when it comes to dealing with same-sex marriage.

Republican Representative Monty Fritts, who was in favour of the bill, said: “The court decided to redefine something that Almighty God had not given that court the authority to redefine.”

House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. John Ray Clemmons called the bill “inherently flawed” and a “slap in the face of the very spirit of the 14th Amendment”.

If the bill becomes law, private citizens and businesses – which includes things like hospitals, insurance companies and banks – could choose to not recognise same-sex marriages. It would also protect said citizens and organisations from being disciplined or sanctioned for declining to officiate same-sex marriages.

I think I agree there is nothing at all harmful about kids learning that genders are not binary, and restrooms have private stalls that make then unnecessary to be binary either.
Sports I am still thinking about.

I have visions of drivers being pulled over and being asked to present their licenses - what happens when the gender marker on their license doesn't agree with the way they present? I'm sure we're going to see people charged because the pic on their license doesn't come close to looking like them.

And imagine what's going to happen when they try to board a plane ...

Generally police oppose denying driver's license to aliens.
Why?
When first responders need to identify or document an individual's involvement, the driver's license is often the identification protocol of choice.
Withholding that form of identification complicates this.

Those demanding "immediate surrender" seem to have designated insulting their target demographic a higher priority than expediting governance.

Since felons who can not vote can still get a driver's license, I do not see why there is reluctance to hand out driver's licenses to those who pass the tests?
The driver's license should not allow them to vote.
