Didn't RFK Jr announce that the US will no longer participate in determining which strain we should worry about? Just part of his standard anti-vax message

That's why every year they determine what strain of flu is going to be prevalent and then produce the appropriate vaccine.

Except that in reality they only guessed right once or twice.
They not only almost always guess wrong, but unnecessary vaccinations are extremely harmful, and purge older immunities.

The flu vaccination program only has any significant beneficial effect on the elderly, (like me), and it is so small as to be fairly pointless.

Here is the result of a study done by the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
{...
We conducted a prospective cohort study from 1 July 2016 to 31 June 2017 in a large unselected ambulatory population aged over 80 years. We compared all-cause mortality in vaccinated versus unvaccinated subjects after propensity-score matching, to control for age, sex and comorbidities.
...
Overall, 2084 patients (22.8%) died during the study. After propensity score matching, the mortality was evaluated at 20.9% in the vaccinated group and 23.9% in the unvaccinated group (OR = 0.84 [0.75–0.93], p = 0.001).
...}
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7564344/

So there was a 3% reduction in mortality for those over 80.
For most of the population, there was no significant reduction in mortality from the flu vaccinations.

There's more than one epidemiological approach to quantifying this.
Have you read any statistical comparison of per capita influenza disease / spread / death before vaccine was available, vs after?

"... and it is so small as to be fairly pointless." R5 #63
Statistically pointless? About the same number of fatalities as the number we lose to being bonked on the head by de-orbiting space debris?

Subjectively "pointless" might not be the assessment made by the undead, those that would otherwise have died without the vax.

Except that in reality they only guessed right once or twice.
Got a legit reference for that?

Funny but those of us who were inoculated against Swine Flu in the 70's were highly resistant the last time that bug appeared. Fact is, that's one of the reasons it didn't affect the older cohort as much as younger people.

Most flu cases are just seasonal and not pandemics like Spanish flu and Swine flu.
The experts now say the Spanish flu should not have been a big deal, and the main harm was cause by the social distancing and masks that flattened the curve and slowed down herd immunity.

I think Swine flu was worth inoculating against.
But just not the slight seasonal variations.

So if the rest of your comment was correct why was my generation relatively spared from that ??

Unlike most strains of influenza, the pandemic H1N1/09 virus did not disproportionately infect adults older than 60 years; this was an unusual and characteristic feature of the H1N1 pandemic.
Even in the case of previously healthy people, a small percentage develop pneumonia or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This manifests itself as increased breathing difficulty and typically occurs three to six days after initial onset of flu symptoms.

And that was generally attributed to the fact that we'd all been exposed (and or inoculated) some years earlier.

Sure a vaccination can be helpful to prevent a future reoccurrence of the same epidemic.
But since there are hundreds of different pathogens we call flu, the odds of a reoccurrence are slim, and humans can only maintain a dozen or so immune responses.
You can't get a person hundreds of immunities.
Immunity information has to be appended to T-cell DNA so that it lasts longer than the 10 year cell life, which limits the amount of immunity information possible.

"There is no possible way for mRNA to ever work." R5 #73
Clarification:
it's unlikely for mRNA to do naturally what Pfizer and others have done with it artificially. BUT !

It's chemistry R5.
It's one thing to acknowledge how miraculous this pandemic vax scramble was, as Collins does here:
"The COVID vaccine I would very safely estimate would be seen as one of the greatest scientific achievements of humanity ever." ...
"The estimates are from the Kaiser Family Foundation that between July of '21 and April of '22 when vaccines were available and free to everybody 234,000 Americans died unnecessarily because of misinformation. The culture wars killed a lot of people." former NIH director, author of The Road To Wisdom, Dr. Francis S.Collins 24/09/17
Denying this modern miracle ranks with the absurdity of Holocaust deniers.

Conspiracies on the global scale you present here are exceedingly rare.

Where did you obtain your multiple PhD's in the relevant subject areas?

It does not require a PhD, and is very simple to understand exactly what it really does.
All mRNA can possibly do is reprogram the ribosomes in our own cells in order to get them to start growing particular proteins.
Spike proteins are not how the immune system identifies a pathogen, so making our own cells grow spike proteins can not possibly add any immunity.
But our immune system can detect those cells the mRNA reprogrammed are malfunctioning, so those cells will be killed and destroyed.
Which is highly risky and dangerous.
It has led to thousands of deaths and hundreds of amputations.
It has the worst track record of any vaccine ever created, by over a factor of 10.
There simply is no way any mRNA ever has or could be used as a vaccine.
And even if it could, what you would do is use mRNA in lab vats on egg cells, in order to manufacture fake pathogen cells that you could then inject.
You would not risk using the mRNA reprogramming on our own cells.
That is incredibly risky, and for no possible purpose.

In 1981, the Reagan administration appointed C. Everett Koop as Surgeon General because they believed he would be predictable. Safe. Compliant.

He was a deeply religious pediatric surgeon with a commanding beard and conservative credentials. He had spent 35 years at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, pioneering life-saving techniques for newborns. He had operated on conjoined twins and built the nation's first neonatal intensive care unit.

Surely, they thought, a man like this would follow the party line.

They were wrong.

When the AIDS crisis exploded across America in the early 1980s, fear sat in every waiting room. Families whispered instead of asking questions. Patients were dying, and panic was spreading faster than the virus itself.

The administration wanted silence. They kept Koop off the AIDS task force for four years. Reporters were forbidden to ask him about the epidemic. Officials told him the subject was "too sensitive" for public discussion.

But Koop was a surgeon, not a politician.

He had spent decades looking parents in the eye and telling them the truth about their children. He knew what silence cost.

So he turned his basement into ....

I disagree.
There is nothing to indicate the mRNA worked at all, and instead added its own mortality rate.
If a vaccine works, then infection spread stops among those vaccinated.
But the mRNA did nothing at all to lower the rate of infection spread.
In fact, normally once infected, you gain recovery immunity.
But those who took the mRNA shoots sometimes got covid 3 or 4 times.
So it appears the mRNA actually wiped out natural immunity and increased the spread, while delaying herd immunity.
Covid continued for over a year after herd immunity of 72% was theoretically achieved.

I should really provide some numbers, and here is one set, that was really just attempting to show Moderna mRNA was safer the Pfizer mRNA.
{...

All-Cause Mortality

Pfizer recipients had a significantly higher 12-month all-cause death rate than Moderna recipients — about 37% higher risk.

  • Pfizer Risk: 847.2 deaths per 100,000 people
  • Moderna Risk: 617.9 deaths per 100,000 people

...}

This is not covid deaths, but deaths cause solely by the mRNA side effects.

Why Is the FDA Still Covering Up the Deadly Risks of mRNA Injections?

By Nicolas Hulscher, MPH

I sat down with Dr. Carol Taccetta—a physician with decades of experience in drug safety who contributed to the Surgeon General’s landmark report on smoking—to unpack why, despite overwhelming evidence of fatal myocarditis linked to the COVID-19 mRNA shots, the FDA continues to deny not only a market recall, but even the bare minimum: a black box warning.

The Evidence Is Overwhelming

From autopsy findings to population-based studies, the signal couldn’t be clearer: vaccine-induced myocarditis can be fatal:
