GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — Former Trump administration national security adviser John Bolton was charged Thursday with illegally storing and transmitting classified information.
Questions about Bolton’s handling of classified information date back years. He faced a lawsuit and a Justice Department investigation after leaving office related to information in a 2020 book he published, “The Room Where it Happened,” that portrayed Trump as grossly uninformed about foreign policy.

This week, Capitol Police launched an investigation after a U.S. flag covered in a swastika was spotted hanging in the office of Ohio Republican Rep. Dave Taylor during a Zoom call. The flag wasn’t tucked away in some drawer or dusty corner — it was prominently displayed behind one of his staffers, waving proudly for all to see.

Now, instead of taking responsibility, Republican insiders are spinning harder than a MAGA fidget spinner, insisting the Nazi symbol only “appears” to be there only when viewed from certain angles.

Yes, you read that right. According to Fox News' Chad Bergram, it’s all just an "optical illusion" and "easy to miss."

"Multiple sources tell Fox... that the swastika is not obvious to the naked eye. But is more visible when captured on video or by a still photo," Fox's Dan Bergram is shamelessly reporting. "The flag in the office of Taylor was not visible until captured on camera," Begram continued.

Because, you know, sometimes the light hits a flag just right and — poof! — it suddenly ....

Another top military leader is out — and this time it’s a four-star admiral.

Navy Admiral Alvin Holsey, head of U.S. Southern Command, has abruptly resigned — two full years before his term was set to end. His announcement comes amid a wave of firings, forced retirements, and resignations inside the Pentagon under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Holsey’s departure is a body blow to Hegseth, who has struggled to hold top talent while pushing a sweeping—and some say reckless—reorganization of U.S. military command structures.

Sources say Holsey had grown increasingly alarmed by Hegseth’s aggressive posture toward Venezuela and the Pentagon’s decision to bypass his command entirely in recent strikes. He reportedly questioned the legality of escalating attacks on alleged narcoterrorist boats, which have killed at least 27 people off Venezuela’s coast—some without confirmation of who was on board.

This week’s strike marked the first time survivors were reported. It was also the last straw.

Holsey, a 37-year veteran, is the latest in a purge that has already ousted Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse, Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, Rear Adm. Milton Sands, and Navy Chief of Staff Jon Harrison. Hegseth’s actions have drawn comparisons to loyalty tests—and triggered alarm on Capitol Hill.

Senator Jack Reed, the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, called Holsey’s resignation “deeply troubling,” especially amid rumors that CIA black ops have been greenlit inside Venezuela.

“I took an oath to the Constitution,” Holsey told one colleague, “not to a TV brand in a uniform.”

Resigning high-ranking office, perhaps especially when earned life-long, is a blunt instrument.
There are complications, including:

Contempt toward officials under Article 88 of the UCMJ takes place when a commissioned officer of the United States Armed Forces uses contemptuous words against officials of any branch of the U.S. government or any state government.
To the average person looking at Article 88 from outside of the armed services, that definition comes across as a broad restriction on an officer’s ability to criticize his or her own government. That is precisely what the UCMJ intends it to be. What is more important to note is that the UCMJ makes no distinction whether those words were spoken in a public or private setting.
The UCMJ goes on to define “contemptuous” as words used against an official in either their official or private capacity, which are insulting, rude, and disdainful conduct, or which otherwise disrespectfully attribute to another a quality of meanness, disreputableness, or worthlessness. The truth or falsity of the statement(s) is immaterial.

Certainly this broader Trump / Hegseth U.S. military leadership issue involves the careers of loyal U.S. citizens.

It also bears substantially on U.S. national security.

This Trump administration helter-skelter U.S. military talent drain is a substantial threat to U.S. national security.
That's never a good idea.
But there are elevated threats idling on the horizon, not least of which, Russia's Putin.

Clearly, that hasn't happened, adding yet one more failure to the ever-growing pile of broken promises from Trump.

"We solved— President Putin mentioned yesterday Armenia, you know all of the different wars..." continued Trump, who has repeatedly confused Armenia and Albania while discussing the conflict. "He said it was amazing because we— But the big one that he was surprised we were able to settle was the Middle East. He thought it was incredible. He was very generous in that sense... Uh, this should be something that we're able to settle. And I think we will be able to settle."

A right-wing reporter then called out and told Trump that he will "go down as the peacemaker," a hilarious suggestion given the fact that Trump is driving us towards war in Venezuela with .....
