Trump's second presidential term begins at approximately noon, January 20, 2025, aka Dr. Martin Luther King Day.
This second Trump term begins with the conclusion of the presidential oath as enumerated within the Constitution Trump shall yet once again swear to "preserve, protect and defend".

ARTICLE 2 SECTION 1 - 7
Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:
- "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

In Trump's case if in no other this is a ceremonial formality apparently not binding in law, as demonstrated by the violent insurrection of January 6, 2021.

[Trump] "summoned the mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. ... There has never been a greater betrayal by a president of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution."
Rep. Liz Cheney Republican Conference Chair 21/01/12, authenticated by Cheney 21/02/07 FNS

A reprise of President Trump's first term, a reminder of what the next four years may provide:

"No! It isn't truth. Truth isn't truth." Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, personal attorney to President Trump serving as administration spokesperson on NBC MTP 18/08/19

"Just remember, what you're seeing & what you're reading is not what's happening." President Trump

"In this journey, I will never lie to you. I will never tell you something I do not believe." Donald Trump 16/08/18

"The only crime that I've committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it." Trump 23/04/09 on FOX Easter Sunday

"recrudescence"
according to the OED:

"The action or fact of breaking out afresh; a recurrence of a disease or medical condition, or of an undesirable state of things, bad feelings, etc…"

Perhaps the danger, the alarm of four years of a second Trump administration will be ameliorated in some small way, with the calming assurance that there's a word for it. Thanks S2.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge & controversy." Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I will not be watching ..." #2
For those that will, some major networks will provide television broadcast coverage including FOX. CBS & PBS will broadcast in 1080HD.

note:
"I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the State." President Trump via telephone to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger
- Good news Donald!
We found the 11,780 votes you mentioned. Congratulations Mr. President.

- Bad news Donald!

Melania hiding fashionably #9
Fine.

Can you blame her for hiding her eyes? After all, she's married to Donald Trump. He's president.
Our Lady Justice shades her own eyes too.
- With her left arm she says: WEIGH !
- With her right arm she says: NO WAY !

Ever wonder how Melania says it?

First female Coast Guard commandant ousted

by Ellen Mitchell

U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Linda Fagan, the first female uniformed leader of an Armed Forces branch in U.S. history, was ousted by the Trump administration with no explanation late Monday.

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Benjamine Huffman relieved Fagan of her duties as Coast Guard commandant, noting she “served a long and illustrious career, and I thank her for her service to our nation,” according to a message sent to all Coast Guard members Tuesday.

Adm. Kevin Lunday, the former vice commandant of the Coast Guard, will take over as acting commandant, the statement notes, offering no other details of the switch.

The Coast Guard referred questions to ....

Thank you for this one S2. Seems cogent warning less than 24 hours into Trump's second term.

First female Coast Guard commandant ousted

she “served a long and illustrious career, and I thank her for her service to our nation” Huffman
from #15 link:
"... a senior DHS official told Fox News that Fagan was relieved due to border security concerns, recruitment and acquisition issues and an “erosion of trust” following an internal investigation into sexual assault cases at the Coast Guard Academy." #15

Perhaps.
Perhaps not.
Either way, independent of the truth of the matter, the appearance raises questions, doubt. And in Trump context, presents the explanation as an excuse.

Further, this news confirms, reinforces the alarming suspicions already evident regarding the Trump administration's approach to the TikTok issue. Specifically, that Trump is Chi-Comm friendly, and soft on U.S. national security.
If Trump wants to fire / retire a commander, why not the one in charge of U.S. national security at our border with Mexico? Seems like U.S. coasts have been adequately guarded during Adm. Fagan's tenure.

Russia warns Trump against seizing Panama Canal

Sarah Fortinsky / Tue, January 21, 2025 at 11:58 AM
Russia warned President Trump on Tuesday against seizing the Panama Canal, after he reiterated his intent to take control of the strategic waterway in his second inaugural address Monday.

Sanity check:
Russia's Vlad Putin is warning the president of the United States against military aggression abroad. And Trump's first full day of his second term not yet over.
