China provided vague dire warning if U.S. House Speaker Pelosi (D) visited Taiwan. Taiwan's sovereignty is the subtext for Pelosi's visit.

The U.S. nation and citizens have legitimate interests in Taiwan. Semiconductor's but one example. In fact there's a bill in congress to bribe chip makers to operate in the U.S.

As of sundown / ET China hasn't retaliated, so far.

China was emphatic before Pelosi touched down.
China kept threats vague, but is now reportedly conducting military exercise at sea.

The semiconductor issue cuts closer to home for many Americans.
Germany faces severe hardship because Germany allowed Russia to become the supplier of such a substantial portion of Germany's domestically consumed natural gas.
Similar risk to the U.S.
Semiconductors are in many products Americans buy and use. If China reduces or terminates its semiconductor supply to the U.S., then the U.S. will be in a situation to the risk Germany runs at Putin's whim.

Biden seems to understand this, and Biden is trying to diversify U.S. semiconductor sources to include U.S. domestically manufactured semiconductors. Let's hope McConnell / Republicans don't whether inadvertently or not, collude with China to stun the U.S. economy by withholding semiconductor exports from China.

China obviously didn't like it. At the time China's military maneuvers sounded alarms. But for now it seems to have calmed down. Problem is mainland China wants Taiwan. I see no indication China's resolve is diminishing.
