Formally the U.S. celebrates Memorial Day to recognize members of our armed forces killed in war. Dreary countenance and drooping posture might reflect expression of the loss of our war dead. But the U.S. as a People seem to have found a balance. We can mourn their loss, and still celebrate the freedom their ultimate sacrifice has helped to preserve.
