Thanks S2 x 2,

I was raised in the lower Hudson River Valley. We had access to a private dock, and a grand view of the river for miles. It became a yearly personal tradition to watch the fireworks displayed in several towns within sight of the dock. BUT !!
I was in my teens before I realized the connection between (mostly: S2 #2) harmless display fireworks, and the munitions of the Revolutionary War they suggested.

New millennium:
Blasting explosives into the sky with mortars is sooooo previous millennium. We got drones now!

Thomas Jefferson wrote the rough draft of the DOI; John Adams and Ben Franklin were the editors.
Jefferson originally wrote:

"We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable ..." Jefferson

Franklin expresses his reservation about that phrasing to Jefferson. Franklin explained; we're founding a new country. It's not based on assertions of religion. It's based on assertions of reason. We should reflect that religious tolerance in this writing.
